I really loved both the film and the score.

Yep, Kung Fu Panda is so far the best 3DCG movie from DreamWorks. Good story, good characters, and awesome visual style and animation!

Loved the score too, though I don't have the album yet. Even my cousin said "The music was very good!" when we left the theater.

Give me pixar quality any time, it's at unreachable levels in all aspects for all the rest it seems.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

So you've seen the movie? Still think it's a crap?

Pixar has done many great works but I prefer KFP to Cars or Nemo wink

I've seen it. It's not crap, i was teasing Jordi, but all that hip coolness they're trying to create on those characters - even if entertaining indeed at places, is still far behind the genius of Pixar.

Exactly correct. Even the weakest Pixar film is significantly stronger than the strongest Dreamworks one, to me at least.

I think the weakest Pixar film is Cars, and Kung Fu Panda the strongest Dreamworks film. I prefer Kung Fu Panda, but Cars isn't far behind. Films like Wall-E and Ratatouille blow ALL Dreamworks films clean out of the water.

I feel the need to defend this film too. Certainly no Wall-E, but for a Dreamworks film it's pretty close. Great animation, great characters and great music! Try to see past the prejudice of the title, and it's actually a lot better than you'd probably imagine.

Yeah, it was quite a surprising movie in how good it is. It's beyond the standard fare that Dreamworks usually pumps out, like Monster vs Aliens or Shrek 3

I'm looking forward to their How To Train Your Dragon - because it's directed by "Lilo & Stitch" director Chris Sanders, who had good reputation in story development at Disney and has his own unique visual style (but was fired by John Lasseter tongue ). Hope he can give some fresh air to the DW people!

I really don't know whether this has been discussed earlier on this thread. However, at present days, i am listening to classical music, in that case, yesterday, i listened to Holst's Planets, in that, there was a track called "Mars - Bringer of War", it just sounded like Hans Zimmer's famous track called "Barbarian Hoarde" from Gladiator. It was neat and clean inspiration. It was nice work by Hans Zimmer. Have you all noticed?

Of course, that was a famous lawsuit filed against Zimmer for plaigarising Holst's Mars. But I don't care, because that piece (Mars) has to be one of the most "inspirational" cues for film music composers! Just check out the Holst thread. wink

I'm not sure I should add fuel to fire to the LION KING fans in here (I know Steven hates that), but check out this song cycle album from relative unknown Christopher Tin:

    http://www.christophertin.com/callingalldawns.html

That first track definitely has a LION KING vibe.

Lots of other nice tracks there too. I recommend you to give it a listen.
