I'd gladly talk about the Turks who are currently keeping my aging grandparents and my mother away from their home in Famagusta for 35 years now, but i'd better not.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Yes darl,we better not talk about it though I totaly understant the feeling since I can say much about a burned house in Constantinopole, killed relatives,a constant longing for what was there and an aging grandmother who cried her eyes out when see watched "A Touch of Spice". Let's keep it close to our hearts and not forget. Despite the good intentions not everybody can understant what you and I feel...so let it be...Whatever you gaze rests on,do not use your vision, but the eyes of your soul...She knows better... -

Hmmmm, of course I did in the back of my mind have that centuries-old Greek-Turkish discomfort when posting that quote, but I didn't consider the Cypriot question with its possible personal connotations for our esteemed Greek friends here.
So Stavroula, Demetris, I'm sorry.
I was trying to crack a historically relevant joke, but it evidently backfired in an unexpected way.
My sincere apologies for that.

No, my thoughts weren't directed to your comments my friend, i know you too good to misjudge like that.
It was rather me thinking out loud on things that have been in my mind a lot lately due to our...beloved new crappy president who's willing to sell up everything that is right, Greek-Cypriot, orthodox and historically in our hearts; all relevant to our country and the Turkish invasion, in the sake of being the one name in bold letters, the one who managed to solve the Cypriot problem, no matter the costs.
Anyway, enough of this. Next subject

One more question, though, to satisfy my ever-present hunger for information: I gather then that the mention of Constantinople WASN'T a reference to Istanbul? (That's how I first read it, you see). No need for apologies Martijn.I believe that I too know you enough!I know it was a joke and nothing more.
It's just that for me and Demetris who have a certain "history" behind us some words trigger feelings almost automaticly. No need to worry though dear!As Demetris said "next subject!

Consantinope is Istanbul in Greek. I prefer to use the Greek word.

My cat Gomez has been missing for 24 hours now and I'm quite worried for him
This is extremely out of character for my 11 year old cat. He has a cat flap in the back door so he can come and go as he pleases and his food remains untouched.
I'll give it till this evening and then I'll call on neighbors and also make some 'missing' posters.
Me not a happy man

They usually turn up. Our cat always used to go missing, sometimes for up to a week.... and then return out of the blue. Chances are he'll return! (I hope.) -

A lady that lived down the road was working in her shed one day. My cat, being curious went in. When she was done she closed it up and he was still in. 3 to 4 weeks later she felt led to go open her shed. My cat came charging out. haha
Cats are sneaky little bastards. Ya never know...

Thanks for all the possitive vibes my friends.....IT WORKED!
He returned late this evening starving hungry ( starving in a way only cats can be....you know what I mean
) and, oddly for a hot rainless day soaking wet
I'm guessing he was trapped somewhere?

I've had both cats and dogs in my life time, and cats here at the flat in Portsmouth, but to me a cat will always be a pet whereas a dog will actually be part of the family. Speaking purely for myself, I'd much rather our cat go missing than Nasa (our husky). I miss that dog so much whenever I'm at uni. -

You called the dog NASA?
Guess it has a heavenly body? Or is its bark worse than its (or)bit(e)?

Me, I'm a cat-man pur sang, and out of respect i will refrain from the page long rants about man's best friend I would normally venture into having been overcome by the spirit after my daily fill of port (hey, the Dow just dropped 7%. You can't walk a cat. Or run a long side it. Or cycle along side it. Or give it a proper big hug. Or wrestle with it.
If you could have a Snow Leopard as a pet, I might just change my mind.
(Perhaps the most magnificent beast that nature ever created.)

When I used to live in more umbrageous surroundings, I used to make hour-long evening hikes into the woods. My cat always came with me.
Of course I didn't walk him: he deemed it enjoyable to accompany me.
Usually we rounded out the full hour, him going hither and thither, sometimes disappearing for a couple of minutes, but we always left and arrived together.
I miss that cat.

If I could have any any animal in the world as a pet, I think I'd have a Toucan! Although I don't think I'd be happy keeping it in a cage or anything. -
