    This all happened in the last 5 minutes....UNBELIEVABLE! sad

    Still no Varese Club CDs. Not complaining about that (I have plenty of other CDs to enjoy) - but the fact I've now received parcels from Los Angeles which were despatched over a week after my Varese parcel, I'm getting a bit concerned that it's gone AWOL.

    I've never had problems with Varese though I started to get concerned about the Goldsmith at Fox box which I ordered at the same time as everyone else but finally got at least a week after every other English poster had already got theirs. Hope that makes you feel more possitive!?

    The state of my country with our new prime minister and his methods of dealing with the crisis. Some years ago Hungary was the frontrunner of the ex-socialist countries economically and now we are the last. The future doesn't seem too bright, either. What is even more annoying that this present government wasn't even elected, they kind of elected themselves. The protests in front of our parliament are a common sight, people are getting more and more frustrated. sad

    ILLNESS

    I've mostly been flat on my back all day, some kind of virus that's making me shiver as if I'm freezing ( and it's been very warm here ) plus aches and pains throughout my body slant

    Came out in a massive sweat earlier and starting to feel better.

    Saw a really good deal on some classical stuff I could pass along. A set of 60 CD's for $30.00. If anyone is interested we could go into this further.

    As long as we're onto illnesses and stuff (and best wishes again to Anne, Timmer and so forth), I'll use the opportunity to say this once and for all:

    The gap between what I'm feeling and what the surroundings AROUND me SHOULD make me feel has rarely been greater than it is now. The sun is shining, birds are chirping, flowers are blossoming, Spring is in the heart of every man, I have all the sparetime in the world and it's Friday. However, my "condition" is worse now than it has ever been. And since I've been going on about this condition of mine forever now without actually saying what it is, I can just as well say it and get it over with once and for all:

    In October-2008, I was infected with a special virus that attacked my entire oral cavity, even down to the eating tube (or whatever the heck it's called). Once the first attacks were over (lots of fever, swolleness etc, etc.) - a period where I could hardly eat other things than soup and it was impossible to brush my teeth due to the sore gums - December was OK. However, in January of this year, my tongue started to ache. The feeling is a little like when you've eaten something strong - like a chili - and you get this "burning" feeling on your tongue that eventually passes. However, I have had this 24/7 for nearly 4 months - the sole comfort being when I sleep, eat or drink alcohol (which is NOT recommended!). The virus will stay in my body for my entire life, but what we're trying to find out now is if these effects of the disease pertaining to my tongue, in particular, will diminish over the years. I can only but hope, as it's an immense mental load (rather than physical).

    Anyway, there, I said it. I don't really like to share these things as they are a) very personal, b) of little interest to others and c) I like to focus on other, more positive things in life. But at just this moment, I had to share it with someone, and rather you than my closest friends in real life, to be honest. Seems like we have this level of acceptance here, where such thing can be said without serious implications. I promise not to dwell on it and I'm not looking for sympathy! I just had to share.
    I am extremely serious.
  25. Sorry to hear about your condition - I certainly hope that it's sorted out to a level that you can bear. Chronic conditions can be very draining and can be difficult to appreciate in people who have not had to endure these long-term illnesses.

    It sounds like (though not explicitly stated) that you are having some medical treatment so hopefully there will be a treatment regimen put in place that will help minimise the impact of this in your day-to-day life.

  26. BTW, Anne's back to work today - she's gotten past the infectious stage of the disease. But she's been asked to go back to the surgery next week to have a test to confirm whether what she had was in fact mumps.

    From reading the accompanying medical information given to her by the doctor it certainly seems like mumps.

    And now that she's not infectious any more and the fact that the incubation period for mumps is 15-21 days I now have 3 weeks to pass before I'm "clear".

    At least it's not infectious anymore (I'm only experiencing the aftermaths), so it's perfectly safe to kiss beautiful girls! wink That's something, anyhow.

    BTW Alan, do you mean that you MAY have been infected my mumps as well, but have to wait 3 weeks to find out?

    I'm feeling about 60% better today, yesterday I could barely make it from horizontal on the couch to the computer chair, anyway I'm feeling a lot better and thanks to everyone for the good wishes beer

    Thor, I'd say I empathise with you but I can't because It's hard to imagine what it's like to live with a near permanent condition. Thank you for sharing with us.
