Don't be put off by A Grand Day Out. It's a little different from the other two.

But come The Wrong Trousers you have AN EVIL PENGUIN. How can something be better than that? cool

A Close Shave has some of the best action music I've ever heard.

It's a penguin disguising itself as a chicken with a rubber glove! I mean...come on! cool
  1. That penguin used to remind me of the penguin from the beer commercials that would say ominously, "Doo bee, doo bee, doooo...".

The musical decisions in the feature were dreadful (using that wonderful main theme as an action track, for instance - completely idiotic).

Don't forget the Wallace & Gromit main theme had already been used in The Wrong Trousers as an action theme -during the train chase with the Penguin. I even thought it was more out of place there, then it was in the feature. The Wrong Trousers is nonetheless brilliant and friggin' hilarious.

Here's a bizarre but brilliant coincidence - Brad Bird for Mission: Impossible 4 anyone?

My thoughts too, but if Brad Bird does it it at least has a chance to be good.

Tom Cruise was always game for another one, but now it seems it will be an interesting one too smile

  4. So, I was watching Cloverfield last week and was moderately disturbed by it (in a good way), and to top it off, I watch the end credits and this man's suite for the film plays. I can't get away from this man, no matter what.

Anyway, I liked "Roar!" a lot and thought it was perfect for the film. I'm still miffed that he swiped Horner's Oscar though...

It is great watching the awesome film with no score only to know you're getting a super Giaccchino composition in the credits. How often does that happen, eh? cool

    And welcome, Kevin! wave

One of the fantastic things about entertainment mediums, such as movies, is that if you aren't interested in something, you don't have to see it. A novel concept, I know.

I normally love Michael Giacchino scores, but MI3 never did much for me. I never saw the film, so that might play a part.

    Cheers Einstein!

Thing is though Chris, is that that time energy and manpower could be put to making something original and worthwhile.

On the other hand it's Hollywood so we can nix the idea of originality.

Hmm, I was certainly expecting - or at least hoping for - Thomas Newman to get a look in here.

Me too. Both of his Pixar scores are outstanding (dare I say, better than the one which just won an Oscar).

Yeah, color me disappointed also. I think there was something about Pixar, specifically Stanton, that made Newman break into new things and as a result, write amazing music (Friends Not Food, Nemo Egg, The Axiom).

Oh well, Hollywood protects its own...

The Lost season 5 soundtrack is over sixty minutes long apparently. shocked

I'm eagerly awaiting to be proven wrong about a lack of new music.
