If any of you had to rank your favorite Desplat waltzes, what would be your top 5? For me:

    1. Dinner Waltz (Lust, Caution)
    2. Chez Chanel (Coco Avant Chanel)
    3. River Waltz (The Painted Veil)
    4. Birth Waltz (Birth)
    5. Love in Murmansk (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)

In my haste, I totally forgot "Griet's Theme" and "The Birth Feast" from Girl With a Pearl Earring. Oh well...when you binge on 20+ scores from the same person, you're bound to forget one...

All of them! The man's unique!
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

I like that one too, but it's too short!
  4. 'Bungy Jump' from THE UPSIDE OF ANGER is pretty short too, but it's good.

I'd probably put my vote with 'Chez Chanel' and 'The Dinner Waltz' (particularly the 'Empty Bed' reading).

I love "An Empty Bed". It's the perfect end credits piece to play after what transpires in the film.
  6. Yeah. The shift to the strings there is so emotionally right. Describing it to people always makes me feel emotional.

The upside of anger is probably one of his best and most underlooked among the wider audience.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

But Lust, Caution is snoozing and boring according to many forum members.

LES CHORISTES | bruno coulais & christophe barratier (lyrics and some songs)

Woow, there's only lovely melodies on this one. It's so likeable and full of spirit! 'Caresse sur l'océan' is just wonderful, as is the main theme and its song 'Vois sur le Chemin'. Or 'Cerf-volant'. love

    EDIT: Wrong thread!

Probably because it has no action music...or brass.

It's one of his most restrained but emotionally powerful scores, esp for anyone who's seen the movie it accompanies.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  8. Lust, Caution is lovely and the movie is amazing.

I don't think I'm in the minority. I thnk there are just as many peole out there that feel the way I do. But if I am in the minority it doesn't bother me one bit. BTW, it's Erik not Eric. wink
