It's not so much the music as it's association with a character that Martijn hates.
The theme is simply brilliant!

I don´t know if the movie is bad, but as Steven has said (I think it´s been Steven, too many posts to check it out though) it won´t live up to the expectations it has created. The most die hard fans of the saga will love it at all costs, but a lot of people may feel disappointed. We´ll see.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

NP: Indiana Jones and the KingDom of the Crystal Skull.
The Skull motif is interesting enough to make an interesting listen. I love this herrman-like Style. And for some reason it reminds me to a Hot Night in the Amazon ( ).
I must confess, sometimes I confuse Irina's theme and the Skull motif.
Im really curious to see why marion's theme is heard so little in the soundtrack....Perhaps his apparecenance is in the final minutes of the movie? -

Actually, what's a siluete and how do you take care of "it?"

Indiana Jones and thr Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - John Williams
That's a really good score. The new themes are a welcomed addition to the Indy music. We'll see in the movie if there isn't any misplaced music like in the Strar Wars prequels. -

Obviously I need to listen to it a lot more to discover its depths - but that won't be a problem. There is a Star Wars prequel sound to some of the action music, I will give you that - so I'm not entirely surprised you don't love it, since you don't like those so much - but this is just plain wonderful for me, everything I love about good film music. -

Yes, I had the same premonition.
I even like more SW prequels than this score. In fact, there are a lot of influences from the galatic prequel here.
Phantom Menace : "panaka and the queens protector" is the base for Mutt's theme. But in the phantome menace was an inspired action track, and here it's predictible and boring.
(I must say Phantom menace is a really under rated score. It's a really enjoyable one. With the old Williams action style.)
AOTC: The unfocused action stuff.
Revenge Of the Sith: The dramatic -suspense elements. But not so powerfull.
NP:Indiana Jones and KOTCS
I enjoy the darker stuff. Because It contains more than the obsessive woodwinds and timpani. And How I said, Skull's motif is very hipnotic.
I can't consider and Indy sound yet, I guess at least I will consider that when I see the movie.
("Grave Robbers"....Anyone see a Dinosaur trying to Kill Julian Moore? ) -

JOHN WILLIAMS - Kingdom of the Krystal Skull
Definitely not the usual Indiana Jones stuff, apart from the reprises of the original themes. It's simply a matter of where you stand at, in regards with the different musical directions Williams has taken during the last 10 years or so.
It's a love it or not situation as lots of the darker, brooding, intense and masterfully written and performed material from the score sounds like WAR OF THE WORLDS / MINORITY REPORT material ("Secret Doors and Scorpians", "Oxley's Dilemma", "Ants!") and definitely a very large departure from his sound of the 80's. You can't expect something like that in here, it's simply NOT in it.
And i was also stunned to hear the above mentioned material (among other similar stuff) after i have read the "only one action cue and that is "Jungle Chase" comments; yes, that might be the only "conventional" Indiana Jones type of action track apart the main themes reprises but that doesn't mean the 'newer' material isn't action simply because it's different.
Williams has clearly moved to other musical paths and while i can see how people who expected copy pastes of the 'original' Indiana sound won't like this new installment but apart that, i think an artist of the range of John Williams should be respected not only because what's he's written all these years but also his due to the undeniable mastery, musicianship and relative superiority of his current musical decisions, paths and work as such.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -
