the orchestral / choral bits of Gladiator have also well passed onto stuff like HGW'S KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and METAL GEAR SOLID scores, BADELT'S INVINCIBLE and EQUILIBRIUM, JOHN DEBNEY'S PASSION OF THE CHRIST, BRIAN TYLER'S CHILDREN OF DUNE - just to name a few but also bits of Doyle's work from the last 2-3 years or so and Game scores in general.
You make a compelling point.
Plus the general notion after GLADIATOR that every epic war film should sound like GLADIATOR.
Well, there haven't been that many epic war films.
None, in fact, I think, and when they are scores it's always with that same elegiac Band Of Brothers sound which is starting to seriously get on my tits (yeah yeah yeah, it's all terrible and horrible and very sad indeed. Yawn.)
However, I would support your case in the sense that we hear this sound in a lot of epic battle scenes in, generally, historic fantasy film.

I´m not sure, but it´s possible. I remember wondering about them at my first listen (which was on the day the score came out). -

That's right!
Maybe the score to WILLOW popularised it in fantasy / ethnic scores?

A great video game score again! I'm listening to Trenseka Border Crossing right now... how amazingly they combined the main theme with suspenseful spiccato strings!! Other great tracks are A Bridge Too Close, Gulag Gauntlet, Sniper Alley and Minefield. Lovin' it, man!
Indeed, top stuff. Are you a fan of Mercenaries too?Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Delightful! Beautiful score with ethnic touches and some Glass-like cues -

Great little score that features some great laid-back big band jazz, some unexpectedly fine and interesting action pieces and of course the incomparable and brilliant Baby Elephant Walk!

You can give a lot of things.
Hmm.
You know that box set of the complete scores to all three Pirates films, autographed by Zimmer and everyone who works at Remote Control? Yes, I know you have it.
You should give me that.I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

NP: Hellboy - Marco Beltrami
The "complete" version (or bootleg, or whatever. The two CD variant anyway).
I wonder if it holds my interest throughout as much as the commercial release does?
I've always only added the B.P.R.D. suite to my commercial release for my listening pleasure. Well. We'll see.
So far so good. A grand and epic sound, and excellent sound quality.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

An excellent score with a consistent tone and feel for two whole hours, and not quite like anything else in HGW's body of work. The random bits of Narnia, however, are very amusing. "Kerak Castle" begins exactly like "The Battle" begins.I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

I love the alternates for Battle of Kerak, especially the third one! -

I found another Narnia bit... "Guy Power" uses the first 4 notes of the "Battle" theme from Narnia.
I haven't listened to all the alternates yet, I have them all stuck at the end of the score so they don't interrupt the listening experience.I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -
