After a few days break, I couldn't resist but return to this one.

I too played this today, very fine work.

N.P JOE HISIASHI - Legend of the four Gods (1)

    Varese Sarabande a 30th Anniversary Celebration [4CD]

Varese has released some truly beautiful material over the years. Now playing Sea of Dreams by LUIS BACALOV, a very romantic and melodic Moriconne-ish score.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

By far the WORST piece of music on that 4-disc compilation is SEAN CALLERY's 24. Awful.

BLASPHEMY!!!!! I'll admit it's nothing compared to most scores, and it's a TOTAL synth fest, but it rules!

Alien Versus Predator- Requiem - Brian Tyler

Just listened to this very loudly, in the dark, with all the lights off. There's some eerie shit in this score. My only quivel with it is that the first track should have gone last. "Outnumbered" ends rather abruptly while the first track has a great, over the top build up at the end. I love the really soft, plucking string sections. It almost sounds like a little stream or something. As I said, scary shit! Brian Tyler rules.

    NP: John Barry - Various

I am currently collecting some Barry scores for a roleplaying sampler and listening to the stuff along while choosing. Currently i listen to The Last Valley (Silva rerecording) and Enigma.

    Casper - James Horner

Certainly very high on my list of favourite scores, there's so much beautiful choral work here. I can never get enough of ''The Lighthouse'' or the end credits cue.
  1. Adding now the Original Recording of The Last Valley to the mix. I like to have many different versions of the main themes...

Wonderful score! I played it again yesterday, first time in many years.
Love "The Sword Fight" cue where Horner pays homage to Korngold's Sea Hawk.
Wonderful stuff! 1995 was a very rich year for Horner that's for sure!

    Indeed! beer

NP: Young Indiana Jones Chronicles - Joel McNeely

I put together a compilation cd featuring only the McNeely cues from this series.
    Brilliant stuff here!
Although it soon becomes a fun game of which Williams, Broughton, Korngold score did he lift this part of the cue from? But he does it so well.
All the music from Young Indy is very good. Though I prefer McNeely's imput to Rosenthal's.

With the sun shinning outside this just seems like perfect playing cool

Any weather is appropriate for Under Fire. Easily my favorite Goldsmith score.

NP: The New World - James Horner

I listened to Alan Menken's Pocahontas earlier in the day, so I decided to follow it up with this lovely score from Horner. One of the few from him over the past decade that I can thoroughly enjoy start to finish.

    Loch Ness Trevor Jones

One of my favourites because of a sentimental connection with this score. I was on holiday with family and friends in Scotland many years ago, and I had just watched the film in the hotel we were staying at, and as a kid I really loved that movie. The next day we went to Loch Ness! I had the music stuck in my head all day!

HANS ZIMMER - Pirates of the Caribbean : At world's end

Having been reminded of this by Southall's enthusiastic comments over at the Hans Zimmer thread, i decided to pay a loud revisit to an ol' dear friend i hadn't seen for a while. Such a wonderful experience, " I Don't Think Now Is the Best Time" is certainly one of Zimmer's most excellent compositions ever.

  2. Due to mentioned reasons I value it higher than Gladiator's Battle.

Reminds me of a thread I once started ( maybe at FSM? ) about being in situations where film music takes on a more meaningful purpose.
