HGW came up with the main Shrek theme, Powell did the rearrangement for Singing Princess.

Ah, think I'd rather credit it to Harry then as the melody is really what matters.

I'm talking about the core material, it doesn't necessarily have to be melodic. Just like if someone makes a cover version of Morricone's "The good, the bad and the ugly". Morricone still did the essential work and should be credited for it.

Their names (John Powell & Robert Folk) disappeared from Brave (renamed) page and now on Disney's King Of The Elves, which is already cancelled uhm

Also wikipedia/IMDb says Hans Zimmer & John Powell are on the new WINNIE THE POOH movie uhm uhm

Looks like someone putting Powell name randomly on Disney pages, for fun? dizzy

Woot! Eagerly awaiting this one. punk

I wonder what's up with this new trend of releasing soundtracks several days after the film's release, though.

He seems perfect for this film considering how well he scored Mr. & Mrs. Smith. (What an odd paring Diaz and Cruise is though?)

So James Mangold directed this and hired Beltrami for his previous film 3:10 To Yuma, but now Beltrami is on Jonah Hex following Powell's departure from that movie. angelic

Yeah, she's precisely 47 and 3/8ths inches taller than him.

What an incredibly stupid film. If he goes the MR AND MRS SMITH way, then we've won another great action score beer

And the irony from VARESE''s tag:

"Action score specialist John Powell (The Bourne Trilogy) is called to duty for another adrenaline-pumped workout.
    "

And no mention to his finest moment to date which also happens to be in the action genre, PAYCHECK.

PAYCHECK is good but I'd take any of his BOURNE scores over it.

    Just saw the film.
    Which was terrible.

    Ruined a great score.

Btw, about that discussion we had these days on crappy films great scores, well yeah, more of this please. It can be done and film music history has shown as such and the results were most of the times great so far. Bravo to Powell for scoring Bennifer like that. wink

I like Paycheck. It's stupid but it's fun.

And it's my #2 Powell score after Supremacy. I consider 2003-2004 to be his best years. Would love a complete score to Paycheck.

The last Airbender could have been PERFECT if the "mystical" stuff was more in the line of Snow Falling on Cedars.

But yes, it is fucking cool.

It's interesting you should mention that score...I haven't heard Airbender but SFOC is a fine example of a score that doesn't really have a "main theme" and yet manages to be pretty much perfect despite that. It has plenty of recurring motifs but nothing that really jumps out as being the primary one for the film. Which I hear is the case for Airbender.

Which of the many - what I consider too introverted and low-key to be called themes - motifs do you consider the main theme?
