Going back to WW11 for a moment. If any of you haven't seen it the Ken Burns special is worth a watch as well as the music he chose. The Copland Clarinet Concerto is excellent.

Sorry if I missed something but... what does that have to do with McCain and Obama? Anything? -

Looking on the positive side of the Credit Crunch, etc...at least it's keeping the BBC from providing blanket coverage of this square-off.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

That frightens me a heck of a lot less than Obama. And I suppose they didn't make one about him... -

I know, i apologize.
I support neither of them but yesterday i was watching some rednecks shouting on tv that Obama iz nat a follower of Jeezuz Christ tha holy savvvviorrrr and it really disturbed me. I am Christian myself, greek orthodox christian and while i wouldn't call myself a very religious person i do have faith; however that whole Obama is the anti-Christ thingy several McCain supporters are pushing seems really ridiculous to me; I am not saying omaha is doing it though, just sparked my reaction.Love Maintitles. I'm more pro-Obama.
Radicals are always dangerous, no matter their views. I think it woiuld be an important step for America to have an African-American Muslim president. That MIGHT show an interesting image of America, which could help in the war on terror, which should be more socioeconomical than strictly military IMHO.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Religion and politics should be kept as far away as possible. Further even than me and religion. -

This little foray into the American voter's mind made me cringe and howl with laughter at the same time.

I can only echo Steven's sentiment here: the minute RELIGION starts to be a DECISIVE factor in any political campaign, you'll find me joining the revolution!
(Realistically of course religion always plays some sor of part, especially in the US, but so far it's never been the MAIN issue)'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Oh, me, I'm all for the stamping out. You know that.
You wanna worship? Get yourself a secret temple underground, meeting once a month, knowing full well that if the guards catch you, you'll be dipped in tar, crucified and used as festive lighting during garden parties of the upper classes.

I mean it not for the sake of AMerican politics in itself, but their foreign policy and the way America is seen by other countries.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

This is the part of religion I'm particularly against. But just so I don't come off sounding like an atheist bastard all the time, I'd LOVE to go to a Buddhist temple and meet some Buddhas. Some Tibetan monks or something... that would be awesome. -

A openly, practising muslim US president in this day and age wouldn't inspire much confidence in any foreign counrty.

Not much.
In parctise, Buddhism is one of the most selfist religions out there, especially as pracised in the likes of Thailand. It's an old boys network at best, providing career opportunities and status.
Also, getting down to the nitty-gritty, complete enlightenment is a detachment of all wordly considerations...which is about as egotistical as one can get!'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Wouldn't know to be honest, which is exactly why I would love to meet some in their 'natural environment' so to speak. I suppose the same applies to all religions. -

They even decent from their monasteries during the day, some twice a day as well for the residents of the surrounding areas to feed them! They hold their empty plates and go knocking on doors without saying a word - nothing, just extending the plate and happy hausfrauen fill them with hot food; every day.Love Maintitles.
