For anyone here who owns it or has heard it, how is Jones' Around the World In 80 Days? I'm considering getting it.

I'll download it using Rapidshare and get back to you on that one.

Can you even find it there? I tried looking for it on the Internet but my search was to no avail.

Yeah, in the sense of a repetitive figure that grows and grows in force. But of course, the score has more aspects to it than that. That's just what sticks to your mind and what makes it such a "cross-over" album to people who otherwise don't listen to film music.
    I am extremely serious.

It sounds like pseudo-baroque pre-Zimmer-epic pop film music with great bold themes to me wink

It certainly has some of those elements too!

  5. I meant more alogn the lines of how it sounded, style wise; traditional orchestra? Indian flavor? Ethnic percussion? A mixture? So forth.

It has a celtic flavour Justin. With celtic instrumentation. The theme is epic, along the lines of Dark Crystal and Cliffhanger.

    Brilliant score!

Not familiar with this, having not seen the film - but a Korngold-esque swashbuckling score? Sounds most interesting!

  15. I had a listen to the available samples over at the label's website but I wasn't taken by what I heard. Is it a film version of a TV show or from an earlier movie? - I'm wondering because of the specific reference to themes in tracks.

No, it's all original. The cue sheet indicated which cues used the Love theme or the Main Theme, and so we just provided that info for reference. It's all from the same original film.

    Thanks for the information, Dan.

I wasn't sure whether Nate and Hayes was an old(er) TV show (or movie) that I hadn't come across before.
