What can I say, I just love this music. Shangri-La's a better album. I really like Knopfler.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

NP: LIEUTENANT KIJE... Sergey Prokofiev
This is one of the more melodic compositions written by Sergey. Modern sounding but not atonal, unique clever orchestration a well rounded work. This was written during the the early 30's and is a suite from material that Prokofiev wrote for a film. This is a whole lot more accessible for listening than a lot of material that Micheal, Thor, and others are talking about.

I find I have to be in the Prokofiev mood as much as I have to be in the Corigliano or Golijov mood.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

I find this a lot easier to listen to than say Cobweb, mood or not.

Heard the beautiful Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis by Vaughan Williams and was impressed. Not only by the piece itself, but because of how often it's referenced in film scores. Horner seems to like it *a lot*http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

NP: THE BUFFOON SUITE...Sergey Prokofiev
A fairly rare work of his but not only does the music depict one but I heard a short phrase which sounded exactly like James Bernard.

NP: Ayre (Golijov) / Folk Songs (Berio)
Wow re: Dawn Upshaw on the Golijov song cycle. The performances by the Andalusian Dogs - whose ranks include Santaolalla (evidentally a good friend and collaborator of Golijov) - really enrich both works. Top album from Deutsche-Grammophon.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

NP: Zero 7, Air, The Egg, Moby etc...
I'm gonna use what's left of the afternoon to completely chill out before I party hard tonight with a good combination of various electronic-downbeat tunes. Thanks Tim for recommending The Egg, it's a fantastic album and sits very well beside the others that I listen to.

NP: Symphony No. 9 - Gustav Mahler
My introduction to Mahler's work, this symphony is easily one of my favorites. The themes are gorgeous and brilliant, and actually seem to progress, moving onwards in a direction, with purpose, propelling forwards, until silenced at the end of the last movement. -
