Bloody brilliant. IMHO, the best score for a Joe Dante film and one of the composers finest. Easily one of the most unique and creative score ever written by the Maestro. I love every friggin' minute of the Varese Deluxe Edition.

WHICH WAS A MASTERPIECE IN HILARITY!!!!

BTW, CutThroat is only a step behind a few scores... The Star Wars Trilogy and the Indiana Jones Trilogy... yup, that's about it! <-- Not a joke! wink

I'm sure I could name 50 - 100 or more scores I consider better and more listenable than Cuttroat Island, that's just me personally and that's no bad thing either as I consider Cuttroat a very good score and way beyond the majority of stuff being written recently.

Agree. I can understand how someone, like Erik for instance, will go nuts over it, but it doesn't do the same for me. It still is a very good score though, indeed.

One of those scores that i could name and which i consider better and more listenable than Cutthroat island, is Passion of the Christ as we're on the subject.

Passion is good... really, really good... but CutThroat is in a style that opened my eyes to film music in the first place. Every track on that album gives me the right emotional nudge. Passion on the other hand doesn't. Not saying that it doesn't pack an emotional wallop when it needs to I just find that I'm more keen to listen to highlights... which there are many... than the complete album. However, with CutThroat Id' be more than happy to spin the complete 2CD release over and over again. And that goes for the rest of the scores on my Top 10 list.

Well said D, "Passion" and "Cuttroat" are about the same to me depending on my mood.

Tears of the Sun - Complete
To me one of my favorite enjoyable Zimmer themes. I think the African feel is the main reason though.
Zimmer has the African ethnic down pat in his career with the Prince of Egypt, some African documentaries, and I refuse to mention the other (I'm sure you know which one I refer to). I'm sure there is more too.

    KLAUS BADELT - pour elle

Low key, smooth and fragile piano leads via melancholic melodies, string orchestra dominates and escorts through smooth electronic veil and soft beats here and there but without sounding too synthetic. Modern, urban-esque, off-tone and ambient. Nothing special but makes for a pleasant, background listening experience for anyone into this sort of music.

    Nice! I´m gonna like it.

Forget it, Steven. It's not a pining gag. It's passed on! This gagis no more! It has ceased to be! It's expired and gone to meet its maker! Its a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn't posted it twice it'd be pushing up the daisies! Its metabolic processes are now 'istory! It's off the twig! It's kicked the bucket, it's shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-GAG!!
