I'm always open to being surprised. Either way, I'm in no rush to listen to Eagle Eye and will probably eventually hear it only when I rent the DVD.

Then lucky you, because despite the fact that the movie is filled with sound effects, you can fully enjoy/listen the score as it is pretty well mixed.

Indeed, it's probably at the top of last years most played list, which is great considering it only came out in the last few weeks of 2008!

Never really got into in... even after 3 listens. Really enjoyed the last few tracks but I didn't find anything clever about the score whatsoever.

I wouldn't say it's trying to be clever, but it's a very good alternative to listening to Arnold's Bond and Powell's Bourne scores. Plus it's got so many little addictive themes and motifs!
  1. I've only heard one track from EAGLE EYE (the six minute one). It was good up to a point (if very familiar), and that point was the point where it decided it would be more interesting to be a John Powell BOURNE score. wink

NP: And the Band Played On (Carter Burwell)

One of Ford Thaxton's well-liked scores, I believe. Say what you will about Ford, he has taste.

Street Fighter actually features a rip-off from Hunt from Red October.

I kept hearing people say how good that one was - some even said it was better than Goldsmith's - but I could never really see it. The two Revell scores I like are Red Planet and Out of Time.

  4. NP: The Proposition (Nick Cave / Warren Ellis)

A great song score from Cave and Ellis, a nice companion to their Nyman-influenced The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. I'll be interested to hear their (no doubt dour) music for the Hillcoat film of Cormac McCarthy's shattering novel The Road later this year.

Not a novel that would have needed much music, I would have thought. The right sort of film would tread carefully here.

    NP:Radio Flyer (Zimmer)

an authentic treasure from this man.

I love it! from the innocence action writting (Zimmer started to know how writte action music thank to shirley walker, im sure of it! ) to the original orchesrations and use of chorus.

Some earlier Zimmer scores are annoying to listen now, but some others are great, because the lack of knowlege from Zimmer was traduced in really interesting mix of sounds and orchestrations.

I will play Next: Flesh and Blood (Basil)

Another addictive main theme. A great taste of the medieval age!

Just goes to show how wonderful On the Waterfront is. Considering it's the only film score Bernstein wrote, it's been extremely influential (though I guess Heist and maybe Black Dahlia were temp-tracked with LA Confidential rather than On the Waterfront, so the influence is slightly less direct).

I was inspired to play this... not sure why... anyway, this is one of the greats! I'm playing the concert suite performed by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the sound quality is phenomenal.

EDIT - "Movement 4 --> Moving forward" This could go down as one of the greatest tracks and themes I've ever heard! Now THIS ladies and gentlemen is film music!

Am I right in saying that the actual score has never been released, even in a re-recording? I think all the recordings available are different performances of the same concert suite from the score.
