  1. With it being a digital purchase I could miss out the track with the narration. And Amazon were good enough to indicate that the first track had a voiceover.

It's a really good score IMO, very Goldsmith influenced and probably got him the Trek II gig.

  2. Today I received these two CDs.

Turks Fruit - Rogier van Otterloo (A very hard to find album on CD, and it was on my wishlist a very longtime, and now I found it for a very nice price on "Marktplaats" (A sort of Dutch ebay)
Map Of The Human Heart - Gabriel Yared
That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)
  3. Turks Fruit hard to find? Then I should thank Martijn for sending me the CD several years ago.

    Was it!

I am getting old indeed. Sorry, Martijn. In my current state (beer+wine) my recall is not total.

Oh no, dear boy, ought you'd remember would be through tales and hearsay. 't Was but me, Bregje and Alan, that fateful Amsterdam afternoon a long, long time ago, when we spoke of scores and lunched on leeks.
    We did.

Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  6. Four scores composed by Ronald Stein have just been released as separate digital downloads over at Amazon. I plumped for The Bounty Killer, a western from the mid-1960s.

There are a number of solid cues, particularly a dramatic title theme, but they are mixed in with a whole series of shorter tracks (including alternates), some of which seem to be just cue pick-ups and piano chord sequences.

I definitely applaud these types of releases but, the producers need to put a bit more thought into what to release and how to present it: in some sort of chronological order would be nice.

I'd like to know what the Balfe score is like Alan?

  8. Do you want just a comment or a full-blown review? I can do both. wink

I did not watch the documentary earlier in the week but I liked the clips. Will get back to you when I have a proper listen.

  10. No!

Apparently the score was done by Balfe has been done "in association with Hans Zimmer". What that means is anyone's guess.

Tim, the first episode of the documentary can be seen here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b013y230

The first few minutes give a sense of the score.

Less pay for Balfe, and only half the blasting on the FSM forum.

  13. A couple of Mychael Danna scores: Adoration and Girl, Interrupted. A welcome change of pace from some recent purchased (Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine & Gears of War 3).

I thought it was out of print, though?
