One of my favourite albums, smooth laid back jazz, great arrangements and vocals are very Etta James influenced.

Well, I expect very few people will disagree with you on the horror she's become D, and her horrific way of living but there's no getting away from the fact that the woman has great talent as has been shown by both of her ( exceptionally good ) albums up till now, Amy is a sad case and I hope she somehow gets back on track and is making music again rather than the one way track to oblivion and death she seems to be on now.

I don't know about her older works my friend, 'cause i am unfamiliar with them but the current 2-3 hits that play on the radio all the time aren't justifying the hype, imo.

She's only ever recorded the two albums, Frank and Back To Black. I don't care about the hype, I have ears and she's good, ruddy darned good!

The hits i am hearing are nothing special, that's what i am saying. And when played to death by the radio stations / tv, they become rather boring whilst they loose all the initial hints of interest etc etc. But i have to say i am talking about the 4-5 well-known hits of hers (that rehab crap that makes me want to hit the radio for instance) i am not familiar with the rest as nothing i've heard made me want to dig into her albums more. smile

Yeah, it's always amazing to see how some people deteriorate.

I'm really quite indifferent to Amy's music myself, but there's no doubt that she's talented.

I make a point of not listening to bad radio stations that play 'hits' to death.

Already wrong! But I do admit you maybe right that she'll never do a new album, she's one of those people where it wouldn't shock me one bit to hear that she was dead tomorrow.

NP : JOURNEY TO LOVE - Stanley Clarke

Excellent jazz/funk/rock fusion. Clarke even plays double bass on a couple of tracks.

    NP : YEAH GHOST - Zero 7

I'm really not sure about this album? A couple of tracks have caught my ear but nothing really stands out, I really can't see this becoming the classic that the brilliant SIMPLE THINGS is. Still, just as I do with film scores I'll be giving this more listens and maybe it'll be a 'grower'?

Have you heard this yet Lee?

Yeah, I met someone the other week who had it and they let me borrow it. I feel exactly the same way - nothing stands out at all. But I'll do the same and give it a few more chances.

NP: Some People Have Real Problems - Sia Furler

This is the Sia who has featured quite prominently as a vocalist for Zero 7 (though, curiously, not on their latest release). There are some really quite nice songs on this album (her third solo effort apparently) and it's well worth a listen.

Great album - it features less of the eccentric and goes for straight emotion, and there really are some beautiful tracks.
