    As for Steven, unlike some people the man has an open ear and I wouldn't be surprised if he gave Arnold a go!?

    I absolutely will. I've already got his Bridge On The River Kwai score which I really enjoy, so I'll check out some of his other works too.

    Any suggestions for an Arnold n00b?

    Classical works wise I would definitely go for his 'Dances' album ( English, Scottish, Irish, Cornish etc ) which is absolutely wonderful and you'll be surprised when you recognise a few of them ( often used in various history docs and the like ), his Symphonies are complex and rewarding and, I have to say, it's his concert work I enjoy mostly.

    Considering he isn't brilliantly represented film score wise on CD you can't do much better than get the CHANDOS rerecordings which are sublime.

    ....and I think you're already familiar with Tam O'Shanter?

    Oh!?

    Tam O'Shanter is a corking piece, only about 8 minutes long and very film music like, all about a drunk getting chased through a forest by goblins and demons and it's wickedly descriptive.

    It's also very VERY similar to Battle In The Air from William Walton's rejected score to THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN ( it's available on the original soundtrack by Ron Goodwin ) which was orchestrated by Arnold and used with his permission.

    Yeah, good shit man! You might have to blame Barry himself -Blame him for writing again some memorable music that is timeless. I love the groove in "Downtown Walker".
