Perhaps I'm just grumpy right now, but it just annoys me when people ask questions like this without providing a link. He could make it easy for people to help him, by simply linking to the trailer in question, but nooo, he expects everyone else to do the work. It's the combination of the stupidity and the self-centered attitude that annoys me.

Am I just overly grumpy or do stuff like this annoy others as well?

Personally, I don't think it was that bad. The replies were FAR worse, especially the guy telling him to "suck it" for no particular reason.

Perhaps stupidity simply annoys me more than douchbaggery. The "suck it" guy is just a troll and a random douchebag easy to ignore. It's the lack of thought by the "trailer" guys that gets to me, and the attitude that he'll simply ask and expect everyone else to do all the work.

Indeed, it looks like a junkyard. It's also filled with trolls, and the nice members there just seems to post long lists of scores all the time.

Remember the eating pets discussion? Yeah, i too wanted to forget that.

But in the verge of this week's talks about the upcoming olympics and the supposed banning of eating cats and dogs in China from the government themselves, i wanted to share this video that was linked in a news' blog here in Greece.

WARNING: IT IS VERY DISTURBING, SHOCKING AND GRAPHIC. I SERIOUSLY URGE NOT WATCHING IT IF YOU ARE EASILY SHOCKED.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hh0rp7Yd_sI

I am curious if some of the people who strongly opposed me at the time, might re-think their arguments now. I am not in the mood for talking and debating it though, after watching that video. It speaks for itself and what the picture says, 1000 words can’t.

While this video is probably horrific (I haven't watched it), there's tons of these about cows, pigs, chickens, ... too. This obviously doesn't mean "this is right", but it happens for most animals who're prepared for lunch at the end of the chain.

So China eats dogs? How does that change any of the arguments for or indeed against the eating of certain kinds of animal? confused

I'm not particularly fond of the way dogs are "ripened" in some cantons and in Taiwan (apparently they're slowly choked as the adrenalin that releases gives the meat a better flavour), but the simple fact that dogs are eaten does not disturb me in the least.

If you're going to respond to me, watch it first with the 'pets learn to love, trust and depend on humans' which is undeniable, that's the point. Or simply don't reply please.

OK, so I watched it, and it was exactly what I surmised it was, and doesn't change an iota in how I think.
Seeing that done to a rabbit or a cow or a pig would be just as disturbing.

This is not about cruelty to pets, it's about cruelty to animals (the killing part is unnecessarily messy and slow, and would be disturbing and distressing with any animal, be it a kitty or a crocodile).

We have an animal rights movement here in Belgium (what country doesn't? The Netherlands even has a political party who probably want gay rights and abortion for ducks) and they release a video now and then, shown all over the papers and news, claiming the same things as the above. It's very sad, and unnecessarily violent most o the times it comes to surface.

I doubt the dogs in the videos were pets once (still, I haven't seen it), I hope that they were grown? In the end, one has the option. Or you eat lots of meat from the usual butcher, or you painless killing of animals, called vegetarian. There's something in between, organically farmed chickens and all that, killed painlessly.

But I know D how much this subject emotionally touches you, and I can understand that. But like Martijn said it's an animal like the one who provided your nice looking, fresh meat for dinner.

    Oh, damn, BP. sad
    What does that mean though?
Age itself leads to (some, moderate) hearing loss, but that is only natural.
So maybe it's just that? (I'm hoping, of course).

    Keep us posted, man.

I have had a temporary hearing loss for about 1,5 weeks. The doctor said when he examined me: it can be either temporary or not, time will tell. Thank God it was temporary. So let's hope for the best, Ramesh.

I got a more comprehensive audiometry test done today. The extent of loss is classified as mild-to-moderate. And it's both ears.
Mild loss is (roughly) when you have difficulty hearing in a noisy environment. Moderate loss is when you have difficulty with some range of frequencies of normal conversation.
    http://deafness.about.com/cs/earbasics/ … ofloss.htm

It's sensorineural which means that it's permanent.

Age can be a factor but I'm just in my early 30s so that's not very good news considering that loss is progressive.

I've to meet with a ENT specialist to find out what the cause might be. Common causes of loss include trauma, listening at loud levels for extended periods. None of those apply to me. So, I don't know as of now. It could be hereditary (my dad is hard of hearing). I've to wait 3 weeks for the next appointment.

Ah, good that it seems to be temporary. I hope it stays that way.
