NP: Wyatt Earp - James Newton Howard
More drama and less action than your average Western score but this is a fantastic effort nonetheless.

It's very restrained, yes. It should have been called Work Days though, because it's excellent music to listen to while working. I like it enough for that, though I would have liked it to break free just once or twice from its, eh, restrain. -

I read the book before I ever saw the film, the book was very good and the film, IMO, is pants!
Gold's music is a winner though and it can never be stated enough just how truly magnificent that theme is.
I find that the rest of the material in the new discs is equally impressive, not just the main theme. There's so much good music in there!

NP:Tears of the sun (Zimmer)
What apparently is an unpersonal score it contains 4 tracks of 8 minutes each one composed, arranged and programed by Zimmer himself.
beyond all the tracks we know are excelent, I could name also "carnage" wich contains haunting vocals and a a visceral sound design
PS:The credits in this Varese Realease is I what every Zimmer score must have. -

Played:
La Provinciale - Ennio Morricone
I don't know why this score doesn't get more mentions. I think it has truly beautiful themes, very cleverly composed tracks and has only 2-3 harsh tension tracks. All in all, a very nice Morricone album.
The Pelican Brief - James Horner
It's one of those albums where I had to see the movie too, to really appreciate the music. At first listen the majority of the tracks on the album was way too un-melodic for my taste but after watching the movie and returning to the CD I began to love it. There are some very good action stuffs on the CD and the final emotional pay-off is great. -

What I really found interesting was I hadn't heard Mad Mad World for a long time and suddenly there have been two recent recordings (Nestor and Fitzpatrick).

I was dissapointed in the first place, then the main theme was in my head for 3 weeks and I was listening the whole score again and again.
But the real fact is it is a score where the action music is disjointed (exept for the "Nailin’ the Kelvin " track), the spock theme is souless and the "labor of love" is forced into the scene.
I could have been enjoyed much more this score if Giacchino was put togetter the action stuff from "nero sighted" and "nice to meld you" together instead doing a mixed tracks.
NP:Star trek (Goldsmith)
One of the most memorable theme ever.and One of the best scores ever wrotte.
But how i said a lot of times, the tracks I most enjoy are the "hypnotic" and Herrman-esque "vjeur" tracks.

That theme does get stuck in your head Jordi. It's the gorgeous version of it in That New Car Smell that really does me in.

WRONG!
Spock's Theme souless?! For from it. It's a perfect representation of the character.
As for "Labour of Love"... it was the music that made me well up when I finally saw the movie. What could have easily turned into something cliche actually became the emotional highlight of the film. Giacchino NAILED it!

That cue really didn't do anything for me. It didn't carry the emotion like similar cues in Lost do.
I too want to see Giacchino score another Trek movie, simply so we can hear this so-called second part of the main theme.
