I won't watch this either. I've never seen the point of musicals. Whenever they start singing it's like the movie comes to a complete stop, where you might as well go and make coffee until the story is allowed to proceed. Watching a musical is like watching a movie that is interrupted by commercials every 2 minutes.

I was actually thinking about adding to the end of that post that Singin' in the rain was an exception where the singing actually worked very well, because I expected that someone would bring it up, but I decided against it.

LES MIS is unfortunately one of those stories where most of the songs involve characters literally stepping out of the plot to sing about their feelings. The problem in this case is that there's so much plot in the story that it means action flies by very quickly between songs, and without a lot of explanation. It really would have helped if the songs had, for the most part, advanced the story. (A few do -- but there's 5 or so I would have cut for pacing from the film without any effect on the plot.)A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

Isn't Les Miserables one of those musicals in which practically every word uttered is sung? Tom Hooper said it was, so you didn't have (his words) "awkward transitions" between spoken words and sung. From that I thought the songs simply HAD to advance the story since there's hardly anything else? -

I love South Park, but I've never really liked the movie, because of the musical element.

STAR WARS Clone Wars Season IV, Episode "A Friend in Need"
I LOVED the score by Kevin Kiner. His music is getting better and better the longer the show is running. He has developed a distinct style of his own. Another CD release would be very welcome!

The Day After Tomorrow
You can forgive some films' utter stupidity on the grounds of entertainment, and this is one of them. It's so daft, yet I did enjoy it. Pity the score is so awful (David Arnold would have made it even more entertaining).
Safe House
Execrable "thriller" that lacks any thrills. Denzel Washington is terrible, sleepwalking through the whole thing. Basically a Bourne knockoff that doesn't come close. Pity the score is so awful.

Watched this for the first time in 25 years, probably, and enjoyed it a lot. Classic kids' film. Pity the score is... oh now, wait, it isn't. It's possibly JW's best in terms of how it helps the film, particularly the last 15 minutes. -

Borgen
Outstanding, gripping Danish political drama. Bought myself the season one box on Blu Ray and watched it in no time, now watching season two on BBC and frustrated at having to wait a week in between episodes! -
