Ok. This thread is now banned for Sherlock Holmes and Avatar. Please keep those in the respective threads, and add instead interesting scores and opinions here.

It's not because of you, but these threads should be varied, and not about the two same scores ... ALL THE TIME.

THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE (Danna)
Very cold, disappointing and unengaged.
Sad to hear, though I haven't heard it and the film didn't exactly set the film world on fire, I thought the book was brilliant but it doesn't sound like it has been done justice. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

NP : E.T. THE EXTRATERRESTRIAL - John Wiliams
IMO one of the greatest scores ever written and on a personal level the score that means more to me than any other. No score moves me like this one.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (John Barry)
Well this is much better than on my first two listens hearing it on my portable player, where the music didn't click with me. Unlike right now... Loving it... I'm amazed how they managed to make such an old recording so spectacular sounding. This is 40 years old and it sounds like it was recorded last year. The music is great by the way, vintage Barry. Always full of melody in the quieter tracks and the action theme is splendid.
Thanks Tim(mer) for recommending it, please do so again.
I wonder, is there a correct order for the regular and bonus tracks, as it is heard in the film?"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

When I came back home a couple of minutes ago I was somehow whistling this main theme... loudly. I just couldn't help doing so, I don't know why!
And now kazoos here!

I don't get the same score-like experience from that original album. A damn fine album, but that's the thing: I feel like I'm listening to an 'album' rather than the score (if that makes sense?) I much prefer the 20th anniversary edition in its complete form simply because I love experiencing the narrative through the music, as well as just enjoying the music too! (A mark of a great score.)
A personal score for me too. One of those nostalgic childhood films/scores. -

Agree about the E.T. 1996 expanded album making for a damn sweet listen and a personal Williams favourite. I listened to the shorter album a while ago and I found many music was missing. Though the good stuff was on it.
Alien (Jerry Goldsmith)
Listening to the second disc of the Intrada album, containing the original soundtrack album and a few bonus cues. This has always been a tough listen for me, when I was younger I nearly didn't like it as much as I did later and as I do right now. I'm finally beginning to understand the genius sound Jerry was going for, a truly unique musical soundscape for such a genre-defining film. The music cannot exist without the film, and the film sure as hell won't be the same without the score. If Goldsmith succeeded in putting one element into this score: it's the feeling of pure terror. I'm finally beginning to appreciate it for what it is, years ago my mind just couldn't cope.
And I've always preferred the film's main title music over the soundtrack's version. That main title alone makes me shiver in a hot room.

You have to realise I bought the album back in 1982, it was the only version of the score I was familiar with for two decades. I love the 20th Anniversary Edition too but it's the old album I return to most.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Raiders of the Lost Ark (John Williams)
Orchestral magnificence. Williams in top form. You all know the score, so I need say no more !

I love both. The score is a heavy listen sometimes. Pity the theme is an almost direct rip from Bernstein. I think overally, I prefer a similar in inspiration, but somewhat different thematically and more diverse Black Dahlia.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

NP:Titanic
James Horner at the top of his game. In fact, Horner I think born to compose this movie.
No 4 notes danger motif, no themes copied from other movies....Oh God! it was really one of the last good scores from him.
in this movie the "sacharine" and the vocals and piano are justified, and the action stuff is really powerful. -

Beautiful strings, especially solo cello, backed with his usual beautiful piano.
And what a beautiful main theme, a little sad but hopeful at the same time. And memorable as usual for this genius.
Love him!

How many memories and fellings listening "southampton"..... i'm back to 1997! When I was a real fanboy and Horner was one of my favourite composers.
