While the original Varese album was a brilliantly produced album featuring all of the major highlights from the score the complete Deluxe Edition offers so much more and showcases a score that flows effortlessly in its completely form from one track to another. Not a note wasted! A stunning score!

    This is not the whole album, just a 26 minute suite I edited from what I thought were the highlight cues. I'm actually really enjoying revisiting it.

    Again, a fine score. The dramatic theme in 'Not-so-Conjugal Visit' and the chaos of 'Ballet for Brawlers' are hard to resist.

    I was listening to Pirates Of Caribbean 3 and found out it's not the best music to play while writing my resume biggrin So I switched to something less distractive yet beautiful.

    Erik, how did that happen?


    My son brought it home from daycare. He had a cold which he inevitable passed on to me. Now, this is nothing new with a kid in daycare. He's going to catch something and bring it home but the inner ear infection is something new... at least for me. It started on Thursday with the right ear and then Friday on the left. I was prescribed Amoxicillin but I try not to take anything in the Penicillin family (I was allergic to Penicillin as a kid but then had an allergy test done at 16 which told me that I wasn't allergic... but I'm not taking my chances) Anyway, the cold is gone but the ears are still plugged! sad

    One of my all time favorite Goldsmith westerns!

    So, it was an ear infection from a cold? Phew..for a moment i thought it was something more serious. We've been studying cases involving hearing loss all year in the Master's and i am generally aware in the area. Some very nasty stuff. Sorry to hear that though, hope it goes away soon!

    NP: Ryomaden - Naoki Sato

    Listening to this again. The main title is so bombastic and epic that it just hooks you in. There's a track called "America" and it's filled with ominous choir drones puntuated by clacking percussion, the overall feel is that of a "Darkness is on the horizon" sort. It's quite a 180 to hear this sound characterizing United States. The first half of the album is more dramatic compared to the quieter latter half. I'm starting to like it a lot more than yesterday, especially due to that kick ass main title theme, and it get referenced a couple times later in the album.

    I never had a proper listen. I always was annoyed by the cheap synth , specially with "titans" track.

    But today im in the right mood, to listen some of his most "1492" -like tracks. In fact, Alexander has the orchestral moments that 1492 didn't have, and the same mind blowing elements.

    How can it be the only score to transports you into the Greek Majoustousity???


    I can make a sandaline week: Cleopatra (North), Anthony and Cleopatra (Scott), Cleopatra (Jones), Alexander (Vangelis), Troy (Horner), Troy (yared) and Avatar (horner).

    NP: Casino Royale - David Arnold

    "Miami International" is an explosive track. I LOVE IT!!! This and the African Rundown makes the album for me.
