    Ok so this comes from someone who was really disappointed with Avatar... but I actually like this somewhat. It's melodic, it's the usual style and use of motifs we've come to expect from the man. At the same time I think it lacks a personality and the album is too long (again) but I'll definitely check this out more in the weeks to come. I can only judge a score after about 3-4 listens anyway. But it leaves a better first impression than Avatar did. And this one does have a proper ending even if the action cues lack the excitement of early Horner. But that isn't exactly new.

    Next listen, since everybody's going bananas over it: The Last Airbender. I expect this to be really good !

    Yes, i am afraid i am going to make you Sad dear Jordi smile The score is pure magic. There are some moments in the middle section i don't quite get outside the movie (i'll wait for the final judgment for after i've seen it on the cinema soon) but its opening 2-3 cues and the closing 3 ones are absolute stunners, as i've said before. The ending cue in particular let me in awe.

    Well if The Pacific was as bombastic in parts as Band of Brothers needed to be, then it would be a different contest (yes I include the BoD suites in my judgment too).

    I am not dismissing it completely, i even got it on CD (mostly 'cause Zimmer is one of those guys i buy most of his stuff anyway, apart his recent comedy / animation scores) and it's got its parts as well; but even when BAND OF BROTHERS wasn't 'bombastic' as you say (although i hear nothing bombastic in that score, i'd call those parts "heroic" instead), it still packs emotion and melodic movement. Most of THE PACIFIC parts sound dry as i said earlier, a bit on auto pilot in other places. It's surely far from being MV's best, imo.

    Well I've finished my first listen and it certainly is an impressive score, very epic and powerful. Just needs a few more complete listens for it to settle in.

    I agree. I know there's a bloody fantastic score here, and I absolutely enjoyed the shit out of it... but it's one of those ones that does require repeat listens (which is a good thing).

    THE HAPPENING (JNH)

    The last airbender score and particularly its last cue: flow like water, reminded of those fabulous cues he wrote for Shyamalan; Malcolm Is Dead from the sixth sense, the gravel road from The village, The Great Eatlon from the lady in the water, the visions and Mr. Glass / End Title from Unbreakable,the hand of fate part 1 and 2 from THE SIGNS and of course be with you from the happening. Such emotion and power can mostly be found in his Shyamalan scores (another non-shyamalan equal would be the beauty killed the beast variations from KING KONG) and i am pretty glad this long time collaboration took place.

    Yeap! And that is a magic score!!!

    The suite is fucking amazing, and the ORCHESTRATIONS thought the score are highly impressive.

    I love the sound, and probably my third favourite score from this collaboration.

    NP:The Last Airbender (JNH).

    It's powerful when it is. But you know...

    You know or you compose a good themes , or you created a very particular sound. This score doesn't make any of them.

    Being said that, yes it is powerful. I'm listening "We could be friends" and I can't wait to listen it into the movie.

    NP: The Last Airbender - JNH

    First listen. Up to track 8 now. I'm hearing something of a theme here. The action passages, as of now, are typically classic JNH and are very enjoyable. However, given now hard it is to hear a clear theme, I'm afraid that the score might end up being very forgettable in the end, but we'll see.
