We've had quite a few clear nights here over Bristol. It really is bigger and brighter than I've ever seen it here.

I need to hunt out my 2.5 inch refractor that I've had since I was a teenager. It's been languishing in the shed for countless years. It's not a particularly large telescope but where we are there's not too much light pollution. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Surely it's just the reservoir getting too full, they open up the gates and the overfilled reservoir gets rid of the excess water? The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

This isn't the BBC news item(!) but the story is still the same - and is for those who can't view BBC videos:

I'm not sure whether anyone outside the UK* can view this clip but there's an awesome clip from tomorrow's Nature's Great Events: The Great Feast:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7940396.stm
A documentary series, for me, is quality viewing when it shows me something I have never seen before - and I've never seen this at such close quarters!
*I searched YouTube but the video has been removed by the Video Police. (But there is an edited version (that doesn't have the tense build-up) here:
