    lol

I appreciate Kate Bush and acknowledge her skill. Sadly her singing style simply rubs me entirely the wrong way (this coming from an AC/DC-Guns'N'Roses-Iron Maiden fan...go figure).

I can stand the occasional Mumford & Sons song.

But, y'know, as far is folk-rock is concerned it seldomly gets better than this.

Nice.....but no sign of Murray Gold in that video? Guess he's too serious for such shenanigans.
    I am extremely serious.
  2. We had Gold on the Soundcast recently for the Cue Awards...I can assure you that he's not too serious for anything. biggrin

Only if you accept the far too common point of view that the world actually starts and stops with Anglosaxon countries.
Now, if said Baby would live in Rio de Janeiro, all our Scottish heroes would have to do is take a plane to the capital of Paraguay and start walking in a straight line! 1000 miles!
Or, closer to home, if you'd start walking walking from Nice in France, a thousand miles later you might find ms. Baby in Athens.
There are quite lovely ms. Babys in Athens....

  5. NP: The Best of Peter, Paul and Mary

Enchanting harmony singing. In their days rivaled maybe only by the Everly Brothers and Simon and Garfunkel.

Interesting that these are all considered "in their day".
    Kingston Trio is early fifties.
Everly Brothers is late fifties/early sixties.
Simon and Garfunkel late sixties /early seventies.

...Peter, Paul and Mary I don't know at all (aside from in the New Testament wink )

I love me some harmony singing, usually it's in the 'easy listening' vein and often defined by great songs written by others such as the great Jimmy Webb...

NP : THE RITUAL OF THE SAVAGE - Les Baxter

One of film composer Baxter's many 'Exotica' albums. great fun, easy listening with colourful orchestration and, not surprisingly, it's very filmic.

Very recommended for those of you with a discerning taste. cool

Indeed. I have the recent remaster which includes both the original mono and the new stereo version. I actually prefer the stereo version more!
