EDIT: Stylistically the tracks with choir owe a bit to The Lion King, don't they?

Yeap, and it's no coincidence. The vocals are done in collaboration with Lebo M, who also worked on The Lion King.

I have no idea what this new 'schtick' of his refers to, but he appears to be amusing himself.

Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

NP: Ain't them bodies saints (Daniel Hart)

Folk and minimalism come together in this moody, romantic drama score. Striking use of banjo, ukulele, string melismas and hand-clapping as percussion work a delicate magic in the film. The score really sews the film together before your eyes.

Desplat is probably my 3rd favourite currently working film composer behind Williams and Morricone.

  6. While everyone knows who my favorite is, I think Desplat is the mainstream composer most consistently delivering great quality in modern film music.

  7. yeah

Desplat is certainly talented but he simply doesn't ignite the same passion in me as many of his contemporaries. I've yet to really love a Desplat score.

NP: QUEEN OF CARTHAGE (Brian Byrne)

One of the very best scores last year. Why the sublime "Waltz With Me Under The Sun" song didn't become more of a ballad hit than it did is a mystery. Just listen:
