NP: COSMOS - VOLUME 3 (Alan Silvestri)
There's quite a bit of good stuff here and on all of the volumes (especially the electronic stuff), although I find it rather disappointing overall. Lots of directionless orchestral music that has great 'sound', but not that much structure or striking thematic material.I am extremely serious. -

Can't remember the score, but the film is one of my earliest cinemagoing experiences. Can't remember much of it now. I have a German girlfriend who loves this film (and song); it's pretty big in Germany, isn't it?I am extremely serious. -

It is, relatively speaking. It airs on TV once a year. I think it's a nice adventurous film for kids.Bach's music is vibrant and inspired. -

Godzilla Alexandre Desplat

Never expected to like it. The combination of Desplat (which I generally dislike) and horror stuff (which I generally dislike) is not the best.
That being said, I have high hopes for the film itself.I am extremely serious. -

There's a lot to digest, but that's far from a complaint given how good it is. Sounds like Arnold/Dodd in places. -

Yeah, it has some of that BLARING that I don't much like but on the whole I was impressed. Dare I say there was a touch of Goldsmith here and there. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I love it when Desplat does action. How does it compare with the original Ifukube score? -

The brass can be a tad over the top if that's what you mean by "BLARING" but it sure is a hell of a good listen. One of my favorite wildlife scores! -

It doesn't.
The closest Desplat comes to a nod to the big G's origins is by the use of taiko drums.
But it's a great score with a great many horns and trombones thunderously announcing the doom of a zillion-feet radioactive dragon coming to call (even if I would bave liked the material to have been more thematic).'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Charade - Henry Mancini
No idea what I was thinking when I bought this. One of the worst scores I've ever heard - basically an hour of very badly dated lounge/source music. Beyond awful.
Now onto Lord of Illusions - Simon Boswell
Wonderfully dark and ominous. One of my favourite horror scores. Love 'Swann's Last Act' especially.
