NP : DANTON - Jean Prodromides
This is incredible. "Refreshingly" nothing Hollywood in sound about this at all. If you love Le Voyage en Ballon then steer well clear of this.

Charade - Henry Mancini
No idea what I was thinking when I bought this. One of the worst scores I've ever heard - basically an hour of very badly dated lounge/source music. Beyond awful.
Still there are many fans of these lounge type Mancini scores. I am a very casual listener here, but I played my Best-of-Pink-Panther CD recently and I enyoed it a lot.
VolkerBach's music is vibrant and inspired. -

It certainly is.
I tend to agree the full score isn't Mancini's best, although the harmonica-driven track Orange Tamoure is quite good fun.
NP: The Pirate Fairy - Joel McNeely
Give this man another proper film! But something with boats and pirates, surely!
McNeely knocks this one out of the park ina fantastic, old-fashioned (in the best possioble way) fashion. Full panache ahead, cap'n!'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

It's been a very long time since I saw the film CHARADE. Can/do you remember much about the score in the film? As we all know, Mancini was famous(infamous) for turning out an easy listening experience album from his film scores. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

The funniest thing is that the film is in public domain due to a wrong copyright attribution in the credits.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

I love that film. The intrada cd is the score from the film, the old RCA album was the standard Mancini album style. I was so excited when intrada released it... And have only listened to it once. Not nearly as good on disc as in the film. -

Assassin's Creed - Olivier Deriviere
I've only heard three scores by him and two of them are of the highest quality. This is so, so good. -

Really?
Hm.
I think Tyler's work runs circles around it.
Not that it's bad (far from it!), but it's in no way exceptional to my ears.
It's enjoyable enough, though.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

You may do that. You may very well do that.
But for pure piratey masculine he-men of the sea music Tyler's men-o-war blasts Deriviere's sloop into splinters!'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

True, Tyler's score has more arrrrrr about it. But Deriviere's score is on a completely different level. Fine fine music from a very exciting up and coming composer. -

So D finds Hidden Kingdoms dull, you think Tyler's Ass Creed score is better than Deriviere's, and I can't stand that fluffy Baloon score thingy. Apparently we all have brain farts from time to time! -

'Arrrr' music.
Yeah, 't Is true: I absolutely love that kind of no-holds-barred unashamedly True Salty Dogs kind of music. But interesting thought: I'll try Deriviere's score again without that particular expectation. See what kind of emotional response that elicits.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

NP: EYE OF THE EAGLE - THE FILM MUSIC OF... (Søren Hyldgaard)
This is bloody brilliant! Oldfashioned orchestral music (and some jazzy stuff) that would please a lot of fans if they only knew about it. I've been following Hyldgaard for years, but this is my first album of his.I am extremely serious. -

Tyler's Assassin's Creed score falls under the description of "no-holds-barred unashamedly True Salty Dogs kind of music"? I seem to recall a bunch of fiddle jigs, vaguely jaunty at best, that went on for about four times longer than they needed to...
Haven't heard more than clips of the Deriviere score but it seemed much more interesting. -
