I'll be renting it I think. I'll buy the entire "ultimate" set with all 8 films once the last one comes out in 2011. Worth the wait! -

Exactly. But you know i have following Harry Potter movies collection:
1. The Sorcerer's stone - Pirated DVD just Rs.30/-
2. The Chamber of Secrets - Original 2 disc set
3. The Prisoner of Azkaban - Original 2 disc set
4. The Goblet of Fire - Tamil Dubbed VCD for just Rs.69/-
5. The Order of the Phoenix - Original 2 disc set
I am in big confusion whether i have to buy HBP or not. I may go for pirated one.

Meh! Only 4 minutes of that 12 minute suite is newly composed music. The rest is edited from previously existing cues. While it's a well edited suite it's a waste of disc space that could have been used for cues that didn't make the album.

Agreed. Especially that awesome timpani based action cue in the climax.

Maybe, but you see most of the closing credits in the movies are like that.
Preaching to the choir my friend. And that's what makes this such a disappointing end credit piece especially from a composer who has written such brilliant end credit pieces for Empire Strikes Back and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

According to me, this is one of the best closing credits in Harry Potter movies. I think you can't argue against this.
Yes I can. They're called Harry Wondrous World and Hedwig's Theme which are actually end credit pieces.

Can't really see the attraction myself though.

I like that you're willing to make a strong statement. You convinced me of how much of a wasted opportunity this really is. I've listened to the Blood Prince score once more and I have to agree.
The biggest problem for me is definetely the lenght of the tracks. They are way too short. There's simply no chance to develop any momentum or complexity. Now, I haven't seen the films, but was it really a neccesity to have such short compositions? -

I actually think the Half Blood Prince score was a huge improvement over Order of the Phoenix. As was the film. -

The biggest problem for me is the limitation of the composer! Short tracks in themselves don't lead to bad score - look at some of the brilliant works by Bernard Herrmann and Thomas Newman which are full of minute-long tracks. A skilful composer can make it work. -

for me they both fail to bring something worthy of Harry Potter fame
they feel like ordinary soft scores, while Harry Potter is anything but

For me the problem isn't with the length of the tracks, but the problem lies with the fact we barely get something worthy when listening to them
ah well, hopefully somebody else (Williams or someone but not Hooper) will score the final onewaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -
