    NP:Pirates of Caribbean Unrealeased suites

Lord cutler becket...Wow....Pure MV feeling with 100 pieces of orchestra. Nice to hear Peacemaker Again.

"just good Business" highly effective, being 6 minutes with only one theme and his variations.
I love this sound with percussion...What is this effect in the beggining wich seems an insect?

Just: Planet of the Apes - Danny Elfman

I really like this. I hadn't realised quite how prominent the Herrmann / Torn Curtain quotes were until now. But still, really good.

Now: Viva Zapata - Alex North

Original tracks - my third recording of this score. And what a score. *****

NP: Clint Mansell - Sahara (complete)

It may be derivative of Dodd's Bond-sound, but I'd take this score, with the fantastic IronClad theme, over Casino Royale any day.

Kinda makes you wonder how much of the Bond's and this score are Dodd's work?

    Sahara isn't bad at all.

NP:Pirates of the Caribbean At world's End

I was waiting this score for 15 years.

After so many synth scores, after so many bad realeases, after so many dissapointing action tracks...

Finally Zimmer did what I was waiting for. His Soul, His Power...with Orchestra.

Take The Holliday arrengements and use it in a Action score.

NP: Apollo 13 - James Horner

    My favourite Horner score. smile

"All Systems Go" / The Launch and Re-Entry & Splashdown are just the best Horner moments ever IMO. Goosebump inducing stuff.

I watched Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl -- fantastic movie but uninspired score. It does fit the film and even though Silvestri's score was thrown out because Bruckheimer hated woodwinds, I noticed some brief uses of the flute throughout the film. Not just in terms of the militaristic pirate theme, but also in quieter scenes.

I plan on watching the other two later on and did listen to the AWE score -- easily the best POTC score out there. And Erik, I know you didn't like the third film but I'd suggest you just fast-forward to the last thirty minutes of the film -- easily makes up for the slow-paced 2 hours before it.

NP: Heavy Metal - Elmer Bernstein

    This is a great score.
There are some cues which need to grow on me. But other cues that really shine!
I don't think this is a score for everyone. But I really like it!
Just watched the film to see where it all the music fits within the various stories. Very interesting!
Suites the images well. Although I thought the score was mixed too low in the film. Crazy film!
    Glad I bought it!
    A Bernstein classic!
  1. I've not actually seen Heavy Metal so I was unaware of the episodic format for the movie. But it explains the appearance and disappearance of various themes throughout the score. The Taarna segment, for me, provides the most memorable music on the disc.

  2. NP: Just listening to a finalised set of clips for a future game. It took me a while to source these clips but I am pleased with the result. Nobody might know the answers but it was fun putting it together - I've been meaning to gather all these scores together for a while now and finally it's done!

I know that there are a couple of people waiting to do clip sets so I'll just take my place in the virtual queue.

    Leatherheads - Randy Newman

A slightly strange score, in that most of it sounds like swinging source music. It's well-done, but not quite the return to meaty dramatic scoring I had hoped for.

    NP: Aliens (Horner)

    My favourte Horner score?

Well...Perhaps if I think it's from one of my favourite movies.

But if I forget this , Probably My favourite Horner score (and some of the only I can listen without thinking of How Stupid this guy is...) are : apollo 13, Mask Of the Zorro, Perfect Storm and Beyond Borders.

I can find some really Goldenthal Sound in the lastest cues.

If John Debney had written this score exactly the same, he'd get his ass kissed allover for his accomplishment instead.

Well I praised this score since the moment it came out, and I hardly knew who Eshkeri was.
I´ve said many times is a fun, epic, in your face bold epic score for a fun, unpretentious film.
