Best Giacchino score of the year, after Airborne!

Far better than Airborne I would say, it has so much more heart.

    Nope.

    NP:Sahara Complete (Mantsell...Dodd?)

I hate when a composer doesn't have an own voice, or at least, in some score.

But the african stuff is so original and fresh, and the main theme so addictive...

Who cares if World Is not enough is present on this score???

It helps that I love the film, one of my top three Pixar films (two of which are Brad Bird films). I think every track is a gem on the Ratatouille album!

I guarantee you will! I rarely listened to the score before I had seen Ratatouille, but afterwards it made so much more sense. The themes are perfect for the characters and story, a more fitting and charming score could not have been made.

And, for the other side of the opinion to be heard, i thought Ratatouille was one of the weakest pixar films so far; see and judge for yourself.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

You're weird. Ratatouille is a wonderful film with characters you genuinely care for... I really can't see why anyone can call this "weak"!? Very shocking to say the least.
  1. NP: The Magnificent Ambersons (Hermann)

This score is WONDERFUL. Why is it not mentioned among the peaks of Herrmann's career? I know he didn't write the Waldteunfel, but it's the journey of his orchestrations of that tune that really make this score.

    GEORGE FENTON - fool's gold

fun, fun, fun. I like it.

Agree. Fun action / comedy score. I have to admit that I didn´t expect it from Fenton. Nice surprise.
Had some of the music been composed by Powell himself we´d be all praising this score by the way.

^ Indeed on the small letters. Indeed, all that proves my points wink

Btw during the last part of the score, there's some surprisingly dense action writing as well that's quite impressive.

Sure, from track 16 ´til the end is like an action music suite. That´s what I was talking about as a surprise. punk

There's not one iota of originality in Sahara but it is quite a fun and boisterous score.

NP: The Grudge 2 - Christopher Young

A masterful horror score -- and features one of Young's most beautiful horror themes. A brilliant cacophony of dissonance and symphonic beauty. Wonderful stuff!

Couldn't agree more, that is a very effective and cleverly constructed horror score by the master of the genre.

I heard the first THE GRUDGE last night ( on TV ) and was impressed by Young's score, he really does put more into his horror scoring than most composers in the shock / horror genre and even infuses *gasp* melody into them.

A fuck_ing Adctive themes! Here.... And "the seduction" very erotic cue.

Sadly, too many Slvestri-erisms. He is becoming the new James Horner.

    NP: Godzilla (Arnold)

    Arnold Epic Trilogy.

    Stargate - the best themes

    Id4- the most perfect

    Godzilla- between these 2 classics.
