For a road widening project in our area (which I believe is nothing but an expected vote magnet for the current government) the municipal guys here are wiping off almost all the trees in our neighbourhood, including several over 50 years old, almost 100 feet tall ones. Not that I'm against urban development but this feels very bad, especially because the afforestation here after this is negligible...

Why, even after all these years of knowing that it's all so precious, do we keep doing this. Recently, a footbal club here needed a new stadium, and their best plan was to build it in one of Flanders' few forests (still relatively small), together with a new shopping mall, etc. Sigh. sad

Thor, please let me explain. The infection has to do with the bad tooth. The chronic construction has to do with the roadwork. This city to give you an idea has grown from 1 to nearly 4 million (county) in less than 40 years.

Not that I use it of course... nobody should ever use Rapidshare. If you do, you should report yourself to the proper authorities as soon as possible.

Of course you have my attention now... wink

Well, since this is the complaining thread, I'd like to share that I admire good teachers and that I'm struggling with teaching myself. I am good at everything that has to do with teaching (develop lessons, write about education, life view, whatever) but interaction with the children or with people at school, so what it's all about... it takes all of my energy.

Now, good thing is we will finally get funds for the education we do, but that probably means more classes and children next year! And I'm not even sure I can have any more. Plus I'm being trained for secondary school now and I'm looking forward to it a lot, but that also means: teaching. Working with children and other people and I'm so curious where it will take me and how long I will keep trying.

So, my training is great, I really enjoy it. But what I'm being trained for... I still don't know if it's my thing.
I feel like a different person in class and I'm still not feeling comfortable in school after almost three years. So I'm asking myself how much longer I should try. Most people say after four years you can tell what it's like. But right now I'm so tired sometimes that I'm not sure I can go on another year... oh well, to be continued.

I can absolutely understand what you mean. I remember my first times in class. I felt completly out of my waters and I admit it I was even scared. Interaction with children is difficult but when you get use to the feeling you really enjoy it. Sometimes you get angry, or disappointed but the positive feelings are always stronger. But if it makes you feel better there were times (and still are) that I felt like quiting myself.
Of course as you will see it is very different teaching at primary from secondary. Adults are a very different thing too.
Do you feel good when you teach? Apart from feeling strange. As for energy... God don't I know how you feel! Most of the time after work I'm like this sleep I can't keep my eyes open. I have to study for tomorrow now. Stay strong there and whenever you feel like complaining PM me! I'm here! smile

I got fined £60 for doing 37mph in a 30mph. What's pissed me off the most is that road had always been a 40, and they only recently changed it! Fuck sake. So now I have 3 points on my license for three years... for doing *DUM DUM DUM* 7MPH OVER THE SPEED LIMIT... AT MIDNIGHT! Truly I deserve what's coming to me. rolleyes

Such a crappy broken system. Can't catch or prosecute real criminals, so they rack up revenue and prosecution statistics by catching those easier to catch; motorists. For example, last year I had my car broken into and *I* had to pay for the repairs. They actually caught the fuckers who did it as a police officer saw them in the act. But guess what? They had to be 'let go without a fine' because there was "insufficient evidence"!? Ha, the breeze coming into my car was evidence enough!

    Ridiculous.

    Same here.
Actually, last november I was fined with 100€ and two points of my license (we have 12 points total) for doing 100 km/h in a 80 km/h limited zone. The funny thing is a couple of weeks after I was fined, they changed the speed limit to....100 km/h.

They are placing radars / cameras literally over all the major motorways and highways here. Oh, and a measure they introduced about a year ago: you can´t go faster than 80 km/h in the proximity of Barcelona, independently of the hour of the day rolleyes

Well officially, the reason is they want to decrease pollution and car accidents. Statistics have proven them wrong.
Obviously the real reason is to collect enormous amounts of money.

Was there a camera crew around at the time? There are so many of these Police Interceptors, Traffic Cops shows on TV at the moment.

My wife was "done" for doing 36 in a 30 zone a few months ago. Instead of getting the fine of £60 and 3 points she got the chance to do a "speed awareness" course without being prosecuted. Obviously the cost of the course was £60. North Wales is notoriously bad for police trying to catch out anyone slightly over the speed limit and we have cameras everywhere!

BTW, this reminds me, I need to get in touch with my car insurance people - as Anne's on my policy as a named driver this speeding incident appears on my insurance policy. I've been meaning to check that it needs to be there as she was never actually prosecuted for the speeding since she went on the course.
