I never have to log in again! Perhaps it's something you can change in your preferences.

I think you have to change that in your browser. I stay logged in forever unless I delete cookies.

I sometimes get logged off for no reason that I've yet been able to discern.
It just happens once every...oh, three weeks or so though, so no biggie.

Tom, you have checked the "Keep me logged in" box right, when you log in?

Is your security setting in IE8 set to Medium (meaning that it does accept cookies). I doubt the default setting would not do that, but I haven't tried the final IE8 yet.

    I crashed my car. cry
Nothing much of a damage (it's fixable) but it was stupid of me. I didn't hurt anyone and I didn't hurt myself but I'm quite upset. sad

    Oh...your new, first car. sad

Very glad no one is hurt and the damage is reparable, but yeah. Your first accident. It's a milestone very few of us avoid. And no one remains unmoved by.

(I've avoided it so far as I still don't have a driver's license. wink )

Sit down. Have a glass of wine. wine
    It'll feel better tomorrow. Promise.

If I switch from IE8 to Firefox will I lose any of my passwords to log on to websites etc. Will I still be able to keep my bookmarks/favorites or do I have to start over?

You will not loose your bookmarks (Firefox asks during installation if you want to import them), but I don't think passwords are transferred. You can try. There's absolutely no problem in using both IE and Firefox or Opera next to each other. Just two applications with the same goal, just like it's possible to use iTunes and Windows edia Player to play music.

Did your forget all your passwords then? You can mostly get those back, if you still remember your username or e-mail address. Just follow the guidelines close to the login screen, where there's like 'Forgot your password?' or so.

  3. I've heard that IE8 is mostly "pants".

BTW Tom, I have both Opera and IE7 on my PC - and sometimes I find it useful to run them both at the same time. As Bregt says, there's no problem having them both installed. Just make sure to choose the non-IE8 application as your default browser.

All I want to be able to do is access correctly the websites. Apparently IE8 isn't doing that.

Am I wrong in thinking that Firefox is essentially a "lite" version of IE?

Just don't ask anyone to say why Firefox is better than IE, because in all the times I've done so, nobody's managed to say anything which made me think it was worth the effort trying it again. wink

Well, did you actually try it and convince yourself on whether that's a yes or a no? That's the best way to find out.
