    I got fined £60 for doing 37mph in a 30mph...

Was there a camera crew around at the time? There are so many of these Police Interceptors, Traffic Cops shows on TV at the moment.

My wife was "done" for doing 36 in a 30 zone a few months ago. Instead of getting the fine of £60 and 3 points she got the chance to do a "speed awareness" course without being prosecuted. Obviously the cost of the course was £60. North Wales is notoriously bad for police trying to catch out anyone slightly over the speed limit and we have cameras everywhere!

BTW, this reminds me, I need to get in touch with my car insurance people - as Anne's on my policy as a named driver this speeding incident appears on my insurance policy. I've been meaning to check that it needs to be there as she was never actually prosecuted for the speeding since she went on the course.

I'm on my Dad's insurance, so it affects his insurance policy as well. I think he's going to change it so that I'm, rightly, on my own insurance. But thanks for bringing that speed awareness to my attention, I'll have to check that out and see if I can do that. I'd rather that than 3 points on my license.

Why? Is Barcelona going to run away shitting her pants due to speeding cars?!

Well officially, the reason is they want to decrease pollution and car accidents. Statistics have proven them wrong.
Obviously the real reason is to collect enormous amounts of money.

i.e. the reason of speed limit fine's existence over the whole world.

Money that I´D LOVE to know where it goes. I mean whose pocket does it go to.

Car insurance policies generally tend to suck if you're under 25 though, at least in the E.U

You're not wrong there. It pisses me off when I go to visit my family in California and you see 16 year olds driving BMWs! A British insurance company would have a field day if anyone that age tried to insure themselves on a car like that.

It'd be best to get onto your own insurance policy as soon as you can so that you build up your own no-claims bonus. After I had my car written off many years back when I got another car I just kept on Anne's insurance policy for many years. Then when I went onto my own policy recently I had no no-claims bonus of my own.

So although I saved money early on I'm now (literally) paying for it now! sad

I feel for you guys I really do. Though I'm all for keeping tight reigns on speed limits in built up areas where there are schools / children etc ( and aren't we all!? ) the big brother mentality in this country is beyond a joke and the permanent "jihad" on motorists is a waste of time that the Police could be using for REAL crime. The Police have been robbing motorists for years now.
