Mainly as I don't like sunbathing, hate sand getting everywhere, can't swim, don't like reading outside, hate the feel of suntan cream....
There is very little about a trip to the beach that appeals. Once we got there I just headed off along the promenade for a walk. Didn't once actually step on the actual beach. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I can understand that. pertsonally I love beaches ( quieter ones ) and I love swimming, but I couldn't just lounge on the beach, I have to at least have a book otherwise I'm off exploring. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

You wrote about 10 % of things I hate to do in that post.
But I can swim, I just have no desire to swim."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

I love the sea - it total I have spent 6 weeks living on a ship when I was young - and when we arrived at the beach the tide was completely in and there was no sand. And that was great!
My parents can't swim and I could never get the confidence to swim so the love of water was something I never got.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I'm with you, Alan.
I can take beach life in smaller doses, but I'm far from a "beach lion", as we call them up here. For just the reasons you cite.
Unfortunately, my regular travelling companion LOVES beach life and can spend literally DAYS there if we're in a warm climate. At which point we usually have to split up.
When we were in Tanzania earlier this year, I loved the first part up in the North, with all the national parks etc. But I was going NUTS after 6-7 days on Zanzibar, with nothing to do but beach life! Urgh...I am extremely serious. -

Not so easy in a relationship, Mel loves the beach more than she loves mountains, given a choice I'd go for mountains every time, having said that, Mell loves the mountains and she's hiked with me up to Everest base camp etc.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I understand what you say! I don't get the attraction of the beach either. It's too hot (you have to bring your own shade!), sand everywhere as you said, the water is salt, the wind blows all your stuff away... and I hate sticky sun cream too.
But I do like reading outside, in our garden, where I can move along with the shade, or deside I want just my legs in the sun and not my head or something. On the garden bed... Little breeze, birds whistling... We did have a couple of great weeks to do that! I only like sunbathing when it's below 25 C (or below 20 C even) and my face is in the shade. What I love the most is sunbathing after 5 pm, until 8 pm, when the heat is gone... I've done a lot of reading outside these weeks.
Alan, I wish your mom the best and you and your family as well!! -

Disagree. I love the "negative ions" of the westerly breeze off the Pacific. It is sometimes 30 degrees cooler at the beach than inland only a few miles.listen to more classical music! -

I didn't get a chance to mention this yesterday but we all went to an RSPB site at South Stack on Anglesey.
We saw quite a few new birds for us - chough, guillemots, razorbills - but we were fortunate to see some puffins (not our photo). It's a bird that always raises a smile in me.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

My wedding anniversary today - took Mrs S to see Take That. Not really my thing, but they put on a good show. Anyway, the best thing was the support act - the Pet Shop Boys. They were awesome! -

I woke up this morning and this was the first day in a long time that I felt okay. My head is somewhat clear (no jokes) and the dizziness and depression have disappeared. Need to mark this day down on the calendar.

Two things: firstly, I can actually now hear something out of the ear that I've been having trouble with the last 7-10 days. This means that I am actually enjoying listening to music again! And second, I've managed to set up my headphones so that I actually like what I am hearing whilst I'm using the laptop.
One of the problems with this Dell laptop is that it uses something called IDT Audio and it has taken me ages to get to grips with what it does to the audio. So I had to play about with the EQ on that, customising it to make it sound the way I like it (I even have to switch off the "with headphones" setting (that switches on automatically when I plug the 'phones in) in order to get the separation I want). But what made a lot of difference was that I had also to change the EQ setting in iTunes, selecting an "Acoustic" setting.
Chances are, both EQ settings cancel each other out (!!) but it sounds good to me.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I've got my Marantz and Rega headphone amp sitting right next to my computer. I don't have this unit connected to any speakers etc. Attached are my Grado headphones and I'm completely in love with this system. I've heard nuances I've never heard before.
