    I'm not Greek.
And the first two words in my mind were "thread" and "delete".
    Not necessarily in that order.

    Any number of reasons.

Open references to off-colour web sites
    Corrupting minors
    General debauchery
Lechery above and beyond the call of nature
    Topic corruption
    Being Greek
    Not being Greek

The list goes on and on and on.

But all of these things (apart from being Greek, of course) would contribute to making most people's day that little bit better, which for me seems the very essence of the topic at hand.

My day was made better by the fun lesson of the month! Once a month (usually after a test the children had done well) we revise through drawings, games and other activities and all these are done with music as background. Today we played twister and so revised colours and body parts with Finding Nemo as background. But the best part was when we sat in the middle of the class on a blanket and I read to them english stories with The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe playing. They liked it a lot and I felt happy for managing to do something different at last.

Cool. Great if you have the time and opportunity to do that. What age did that group have?

Did you see Entre les murs / The class by the way?

They are 8 year olds. My youngest. I do other kinds of things with my older students. Songs and little plays. Threasure maps. Or I read them stories and they have to draw pictures of what they hear. I try to find time to do these kinds of activities as often as I can.
No, I haven't seen it. Do you reccoment it?

That sounds like fun, the excercises you use to teach English. Good to hear it's not just frontal classical stuff but very playful, so they integrate what they have learned. I try to use roleplaying, drawing, writing and games as much as I can as well. Now I'm teaching in primary school, so 6 to 12 year olds.

Next year I will teach 12 to 16 years olds. I'm writing and reading about that age as we speak. I'm starting to like it very much. I'm writing a paper on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide right now. Great fun!
    biggrin

Yes, Entre les murs is recommended! You can learn a lot about it, mostly about your own teaching because the movie makes you reflect on his teaching. In some ways he's not doing so bad, in other ways he is. He is really trying to find his way between affection and hearing his students on one side and distance and authority on the other side. You should try to see it with your colleagues and make a field trip out of it! And let your boss pay of course.
    wink

    Two things:

    1. I was on a Norwegian talk show/news program yesterday, talking about the problem of young people struggling with huge debts as a result of buying apartments with low entrance fees and big "common mortgages" (or whatever the English term is):

http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/klipp/471044 (I'm the first guest talking).

    2. I'm off to my roundtrip in Thailand in two hours! Despite aforementioned health issues, I'm really looking forward to this.

Those two things have made my day a little better. See y'all in a couple of weeks! smile

Thanks....and vice-versa, I'll have to say! We most likely have to drop Cambodia/Angkor Wat due to shortage of time, but it'll be a neat trip nonetheless.
