I haven't decided yet whether to take that as a compliment or an insult.
Uhm...compliment...yes..

Given that Anthony tends to be hypercritical of his favorite composers, I'd say a good word from him actually counts for a lot.I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

It's got the great piano solos of Ratatouille and the action/adventure music of The Incredibles. Escape From Muntz Mountain is one mean action track that rivals 100 Mile Dash!
The short tracks hinder it a bit and it could probably do with some re-arranging, but on a whole I am satisfied (and loving Muntz's theme and the motif for the dogs!)
Edit: Also clips on the site are updated for anyone whose still having trouble getting the score or isn't sure whether to yet.

Just finished listening to Up. I'm extremely happy with Giacchino's score, and especially impressed with how he develops the simple yet catchy main theme in the score by using it quite a lot of times yet with enough variation so it never seems overused. From what I read about Carl's character, it fits him like a glove.
The score contains a lot of emotional piano, flute and string based cues like in Ratatouille, and classic Giacchino brass-based action cues like in Incredibles. The piano is especially gorgeous in cues like Stuff We Did and It's Just A House. The swing-esque parts of Up With Titles and Up With Credits with the main theme on sax are really fun. The last half of the latter has some really beautiful string based music. I also liked how Giacchino made use of heavy percussion in action tracks like 52 Chachki Pickup, Escape from Muntz Mountain and Seizing The Spirit Of Adventure, which are definitely highlights of the score. The familiar Giacchino loud brass and string ostinatos are used a lot here and are very fun to listen to. There's also some great suspenseful music in Canine Conundrum and The Explorer Motel. Overall, yet another great summer blockbuster score. 4.5 out of 5.
Really hoping for a good quality promo of this thing! -

I'm going to purchase Ratatouille album next month. I've been waited for the price down a little more but I've decided to support Disney's score release as much as I can afford. I know my little bit of ¥¥¥ won't affect the Mickey Company but I want to do something now!
I was going to buy US version, because it's cheaper and has better cover than Japanese release. But then I found this description on Amazon page...
Product Description
Soundtrack to the Hit Walt Disney/Pixar Animation Studios Film "Ratatouillie". Australian Version features Four Additiontal Tracks. Features Original Music by Michael Giacchino and Song Performance by Camille. --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.
Is that true?!?! Or is it just an usual amazon error?
I also found these mysterious releases on amazon besides US and UK releases:
Ratatouille [SOUNDTRACK] [IMPORT]
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000U6F036/
Ratatouille [EXTRA TRACKS] [IMPORT] [SOUNDTRACK]
http://www.amazon.com/dp/b000v3gx2u/
The former looks like a German release, but cheapest... And what is the latter? Does it have the real EXTRA TRACKS or it's just the kid's song album?
I'm more confused!

I have seen that "Australian Version features Four Additiontal Tracks." text before. All vendors who offer this are listing the same 24-track version we all know though. I reckon it's either an abandoned plan or there are materials from that compilation thing, "Ratatouille: What's Cooking?". -

Must be an abandoned plan indeed. There were two extra score cues on the first appearance of the soundtrack tracklist titled "Remy's Secret Life" and one more which later disappeared mysteriously. All official versions I've come across so far have the same 24 tracks. -

Screen Archives still has that old tracklisting on its Ratatouille page. Though I doubt that's the actual tracklisting of the CD they're selling. -

They're present on the alleged cast and crew promo apparently. Hopefully we can get that and one for Up too.

Probably I'll buy the usual US release. I don't want take a risk of receiving the kids' song compilation... and I can't pay extra shipping money for SAE.Labels are for cans, not people. - Anthony Rapp -

Interestingly enough, that theme is not Carl's, but rather Muntz' (the villain). -

Yeah. Well, I'm fairly sure the secondary theme of the score, Ellie's theme (Ellie was Carl's wife), takes on a role as Carl's theme, as he is a widower and is sort of carrying her spirit in his mind on the adventure with him. I'm pretty sure she is the reason he goes on the adventure in the first place. But indeed it will be interesting. -

"Spirit Of Adventure" is Muntz's theme, and I assume what "Married Life" is based around is Carl's/Ellie's theme. There's also that secondary theme that "Kevin Beak'n" features. I don't know whose/what theme that is for. Lastly, what I assume is a motif for the dogs can be heard at the beginning of Canine Conundrum and the end of The Nickel Tour. -

It seems Land of the Lost has been pushed back, the new release date is now 06/23/09
Just a week or so, but considering the Giacchino-mania here, I think it will be major news
