JJ Abrams give a nice interview about the mixing of Star Trek (Sound effects and score) and how after Ben Burtt was done he went back in and added some of the cues back in to it. I think this is the first time I've seen a director give the score precedence after Ben Burtt was done! (parts about the score are in the latter part of interview.

Just found this online petition to get a CD release for 'Up'. These things probably don't have any influence on the big bosses at Disney, but it takes 15 seconds to fill out, so it's worth a shot smile

The Star Trek score reminded me of Ottman's Fantastic Four. Both center around a short theme that is a bit catchy but in the end also a bit ... bland.

Though, Giacchino's score is far more entertaining.

I can understand that, but it's actually grown on me quite a lot since I first heard it. Not a Great Theme™, but a damn catchy one! I think it was James (?) who said it was better when played slow - I agree. (Though Giacchino plays around with it in some very interesting and fun ways throughout the score.)

    Land Of The Lost samples!

    - It's Giacchino through the ages
    - It's Lost with a electric guitar
    - It's got banjos in multiple cues
    - There are Media Ventures rip-offs
    - There's a Theremin
    - It has electronics
    - It's got choir too
    - It's complete and utter nonsense

    AND I LOVE IT!

Indeed. I'd have guessed 32 or something.
  4. Giacchino HAS to do the Brad Bird project! Those two together seem to have a force that causes great things to happen (especially in the music)!

But after the last couple years of output I can see where he might want a break!

Hey, all! New member here. Those Land of the Lost clips are awesome! I know it's never a good idea to make too many assumptions based on such a small sampling of a score, but it sounds like Giacchino had a LOT of fun with this one!
