But 24 has intentionally cardboard cutout characters. Apart from Jack and maybe one or two others, they're never developed at all. With Lost, you're expected to invest five years of your life in a character only to find out that the whole thing was a joke or something. Awful writing. -

I'm not sure. For me your comments are still more geared to 24 than Lost, for some reason. I get the feeling that they want them to be developed in 24, really - but they just never get out of the traditional writing. Apart from all the killing off perhaps. In Lost, there's so much more play and interaction with these things, plot structure, character development, etc., which signals that they try and do something with it. In this, 24 is indeed the less "pretentious" of the two, but consequently the least interesting as well... Though the 'fun'-momentum is always alternating between both! -

WOW!
I just finised watching 7x24. This episode was dramaticallly GREAT, and with great dialogues. I never thought 24 writters could do something as good as this.
the dialogue between Renee and Jack about crossing the line, the president and his family conflict....was brilliant and really moving!!!
PS:Jack bauer appears everytime less in this show... -

Indeed. The White House subplots (not only the attack but the dramatic stuff) were brilliant in season 7.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

- Three more actors have joined the new season of "24."
Rami Malek, Julian Morris and Hrach Titizian will all have recurring parts on the FOX series, the Reporter says. Titizian, who also appeared on the sixth season of "24" (as a different character), will play a member of President Hassan's (Anil Kapoor) security detail for his U.N. address.
Malek (the "Night at the Museum" movies) will play a would-be suicide bomber, and Morris will play a member of CTU's SWAT team.

He's the dude that Jack tortured with the biro pen in episode 2. The king of different roles will be Tony Todd. None other than General Juma and some random police chief in season 3.

I'm watching 24 season 1 again.
It was the show that made me come back to the TV series. After that Lost, Alias, House....
Nice to see Jack with a clean suite, more human, working closer with CTU. The first 12 episodes remains PERFECT.
Oh! One thing that made Season 1 great and never happened again : the season beggins in the midnight, wich creates a perfect sense of danger and clocking. -

I've come to the conclusion that season three is the best. CTU feels like a big organisation rather than Jack and a couple of field teams, the suspense keeps up throughout the season, there are the least number of glaring plot holes, and there aren't that many stupid subplots that distract you from the main story. -

I agree. Season 1 was pretty OK, Season 2 a mere copy of Season 1 with more annoying subplots, but Season 3 blew me out of the water.
I also miss the midnight start of Season 1 though. I liked the transition from night to day and back again a lot. -

Season 8 starting at 4pm shouldbe pretty cool though. An afternoon ending will also be something different! (aside from s3). I'm just glad it's not 7am again. Terrorists obviously like having a good nights rest before attacking! -

Well, I have to rewatch season 3. I remember it was the most action packed and with a high production value. But I remember being annoyed for the first twist involving Jack and Almeida. -

This also fits season four! I´ve watched it again and I had it very, very underrated. The end of the season is the best 24 season finale. I mean the talk between Jack and Palmer and all the implications it involves. Brilliant.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you
