Not exactly classics....and "legend" material, aren't they? Except for Saving Private Ryan which is a Tom Hanks' fair basically.

I don't mean literally a legend, but I do mean someone of whom is worthy of respect amongst far lesser players in Hollywood. And just because they're not all "classics" seems a little unfair to base your criticisms on. He's choosing his projects far more diligently than his best friend is, and he has been in some very worthy films. He also seems like a great guy, the kinda guy I'd have a beer with.

I don't see what you have against him?

I have nothing against him really, i just don't see anything setting him above the rest of the average bunch out there. In a time where all our idols are fading one after another, there's nothing in him that screams "candidate idol" or anything like that wink Now, if he's a cool guy to hang out for a beer with, it's a wholly different thing.

He's no Anthony Hopkins or Gary Oldman for sure, but he does have star quality and I enjoy seeing him in movies. Same goes for Brad Pitt.

Fair enough. I'd place Brad Pitt way above Damon though smile I'd say he's clearly one of the younger generations of those actors that do carry the star quality. You know, him, Clooney, Daniel Day-Lewis.

Nearly ALL of todays actors are a bit "bleached", they have all come straight from acting academy's or have been teen heartthrobs ( Cruise, Pitt, Depp etc ), where are the real characters? Those actors who had actually lived a full and colourful life before finding fame, the Robert Mithchum's, the Lee Marvin's, the Ernest Borgnine's, the Kirk Douglas's....the list goes on and on.

Perhaps we should just give them some time to actually BE ol' and weathered?

  1. Tired of the same old sound effects in your videogames? Easy! Replace them with your own vocal talent.

BTW this is not some edited video, this is a mod for the ever brilliant Half-Life 2 PC game that replaces most of the sound effects with some dude's voice. When you hear them mixed together it becomes hilarious!!! biggrin

Sorry, I'd love to like it, but that Hitler scene has been used about a million times now, in similar "parody" settings, so it's lost most of its power. What REALLY worries me is that all these parodies will have an influence on me the next time I watch DER UNTERGANG, and that I will not be able to take it seriously.

Same here, when this scene appears on my next viewing, I will have to LOL no matter what. There are some great parodies out there though, as predictable as they may be.

Gotta love slow-mo, makes the impact even more painful.
