I think KOH is a fine film in both versions. The whole business of the passive main character doesn't bother me. If the things that happen to him are interesting enough, I never mind when the lead doesn't shape his own destiny. At least in the director's cut, Balian's progression from blacksmith to siege master is made MUCH more credible.

What wasn't so good was the choice of Orlando Bloom to play the lead. He doesn't kill it, but he doesn't do the film many favours along the way.

Yeah. For me he kind of ruined the film. He just isn't believable at all to me. Upon Liam Neeson's death I'm just pissed off. At least Edward Norton and Irons saved the film.

I think Irons is slightly wasted in his part, because he doesn't have very much to act. The expansion of his part is very good though, especially his scenes with Sibylla.

Acting-wise I think the movie owes more to Eva Green than to Irons, also to David Thewlis.

Now there is one actor I can finally agree with you on, D.

Russell Crowe would woop his arse!
  3. Russell Crowe was supposed to cameo as Lionheart, but had scheduling conflicts.

no. Sean Connery's best cameo ever!
  5. And let's not be too harsh on Orlando Bloom. In the director's cut they prolonged his best scene, ie. where his acting was best. Remember about the nice addition to the scene where he's unconscious? biggrin

    ah jeez smile
  6. Passengers

Well, I can be brief. The ending would have been amazing if ... it would be fooling us from the very first second. However now it is so faaaaaaaaaaaar fetched it doesn't make it a big shock climax whatsoever.

The movie's interesting enough for its running length, of course merely by the intruiging (what the hell has happened) fact. The leads are solid enough and the music's lovely too. But this ending is so "I want to repeat the greatest climax in history" far fetched, it fails

    ah
    6 out of 10

    Transformers (blu-ray)

    omg

This is possibly a 100 times cooler than Armageddon. cheesy

    Picture quality: drop dead gorgeous
Audio quality: Our house moved a couple of inches, nuff said.

    The Incredible Hulk (blu-ray)

I like this, the action is meaty and totally entertaining and I quite care for the storyline too. Edward Norton as The Hulk is an inspired choice.
Again the sound is amazing with the right equipment. punk

Can you guess, I'm a sound freak.

I think the best looking blu ray release has to go to Transformers.

    Best sound goes to Cloverfield.

I concur... I thought the DVD looked incredible. But the blu-ray version is insane.

    Well, that and Speed Racer.
