    Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance

While the highly fragmented storytelling and questionable antics of the characters demand multiple viewings, the movie's second half had me in shock and awe at the same time. Part 1 of the Vengeance trilogy by Chan Wook Park (followed by the fantastic Oldboy and concluded by Sympathy for Lady Vengeance) is another strong drama featuring out of this world characters and even more insane revelations and shocking scenes of violence. Not for the faint of heart. It's also the most minimalistic of the three films, but only in the sense of telling the story, the plot and what's happening to the characters are anything but that.

Great, great trilogy. Not among his vengeance essay films, but also very good is Park´s 2006 "I´m a Cyborg but that´s OK", a really original and emotional approach to mental diseases, shot with Park´s unique visual style.
I can´t wait for "Thirst", his new film, with his usual cast and crew. A horror story in Park´s hands is really appealing.

  3. MADAGASCAR 2

Fun movie with some cool jokes (though most of them are in the first 10 minutes). The played out too less the funny pengiuns and little furry guy (that Twilight Zone sequence in the begin was awesome biggrin ), ah pretty decent stuff but nothing that tops the first

    6 out of 10

indeed, I loved the movie as well. The music's so good in the film
The only problem I have, the didn't include the amazing moment we hear the theme on piano (when Natalie's playing it with her fingers on the bus)

so sad, loved that moment shame

    Virtuality - Pilot

Has anybody else watched the pilot of this new show from the creators of Battlestar Galactica? I found it very, very good. A show set in a spaceship but as far of Star Trek-isms as you can imagine. Actually, I´d say it´closer to Soderbergh´s Solaris than anything else. A very adult vision, where the issue are the relations / tension between the characters and their dialogues. Really hope it becomes a regualr show, it looks very promising although the bad ratings won´t help.

It's not as cool as Spaceships?
(Besides, a confined space is an excellent and classic set for drama, so why not use a spaceship?)

There´s Jack Bauer on earth. No room for everybody cool

Seriously, the story looks promising and it doesn´t look like another sci-fi tv show. Besides, Sienna Guillory (and her british accent) is one of the main characters.

Interesting how all BearGalactica-ish fans consider everything directly linked with Galactica as "not another sci-fi' thing. wink biggrin

Actually I haven´t watched BSG, so i don´t know if the two are somehow connected (I guess they are someway, as the creators are the same). And I´m not very fan of spaceships and all that, but I don´t know, the Solaris kind of look and the story of Virtuality kept me interested and fascinated for all the pilot. But again, I doubt it´ll become a regular show, at least at Fox (the ratings were very poor), so the producers better start knocking other networks doors.

Sure, it has some issues, but it hooked me. Visually wonderful - how could it not be, with those beautiful locations and beautiful actors and actresses?

    Well, he isn't, is he?

For one thing, Steven explicitly confirmed in his signature that you are NOT a jerk, which I thought was really nice.
You, on the other hand, stated that Steven IS a jerk in YOUR signature, which (aside from being a non-existent quote as Steven never said anything of the kind) was not so nice.

So there's just one difference already.
