In Hungary, the average movie ticket is around 5 Euros. And even that is quite expensive - at least, compared to the salaries we get... -

Depending on the weekday and time, we usually pay around 10 Euros in Germany, and that´s relatively expensive considered that a DVD with a new movie costs 15 to 25 Euros. 18 Euros for a ticket to a movie you can´t take home with you after that is pure evil. -

I expect that with half price Orange Wednesdays, let alone €18! -

Loft
Belgian thriller that is really well executed in a grand Hollywood style. At the base it's a typical whodunit involving a murder case but done without enough style and twists to keep you guessing until the end. The film became a box office success in our little country. There's even a Brian De Palma inspired scene in a casino which boggles the mind: brilliant in its build-up. Cinematography is strong and dynamic, editing leaves you guessing to who's done what by using flashbacks in a clever way. And the music fits the tone of the film very well. I liked it a lot."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

9 euros for the good cinemas in Greece, but who cares for the new movie dvd's? You can always rent for as low as 1-2 euros per movie

18 euros for two tickets isn't bad. They are about £8 in England which is a massive increase on what they used to be. Orange Wednesdays seem to be the only way to get it cheap! -

I love Orange Wednesdays because it means all the riff-raff now go to the cinema on those days, and I can go any other day with a more sophisticated audience. (But cinema tickets are a complete rip-off. So I hardly go anyway. I watch a film nearly every night on Sky Movies now.) -

Conceited!
Don't really care who's in the audience, as long as they're quite. (And so far I've not really had any trouble with that, so riff-raff or not makes little difference.) -

In Japan ¥1800 (about $20 or 13.5 euros) for one ticket. ¥1500 for one student discount ticket. The same price in every theaters.
Even on special price days it's still ¥1000... all the same in every theaters, again (oh rotten industry).
And for a 3-D movie it's ¥2000 and no discount at all.

The first thing I will do when I'm in charge of cinema price-setting is remove discounts for students and children and instead impose a surcharge on them. I will then say that on every day of the week except one (Wednesdays, just to avoid confusing people), only people who hold professional qualifications are allowed to enter the cinema. -

I watched again Star Trek 2009
I liked more this time. it's a great combination of action, comedy, adventure , Sci Fiction and teenager "drama".
but the great thing about this movie is the cast. Chris Pine is terrific as Kirk. This guy has a lot of charisma, and the chimestry between him and Zoe Saldana (Uhura) is electric voltage! I can't wait to see in the sequel the love triangle (it's obvious the writters put the pieces in this movie).
Karl Urban as bone is the only weak part, while not bad, his performance is too cartoonish sometimes.
The main argument is weak, but it does his job : explains an alternative reality (
) to explain why the characters are not exactly the same than in the original movie, and it's an excuse to introduce the characters.
J.J Abrams personality is all around and his actor direction is great. But I find the is becoming a little too confusing director in the action set pieces. and this light effects sometimes distracts too much.
About the music, well...great. it fits perfect except for "labor of love" wich I find the music forced into the scene. perhaps some kind of rythmic crescendo ala Zimmer could be welcome. -

Loft is already very Hollywoodesque in style so he would only be the obvious choice."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Les Filles Du Botaniste (The Chinese Botanist's Daughters)
Utterly vacuous film. There are pretty dames (Mylene Jampanoi & Li Ziaoran) and they love each other but homosexuality is taboo in China so they have to hide their relationship. There's plenty of breathtaking cinematography with every frame a riot of colors. But it all seems very staged-- 'Let's show a beautiful shot of them rowing by the lake; let's add some confetti and jugglers... never mind the reason for them being there'.
Eric Levi's score has a couple of nice themes but there's not much he does aside from it. Its also baffling why a scene with the two girls frolicking in the water should receive a big choral theme.
Bollywood could definitely use some of the cinematography gorgeousness here. -

The Bourne Ultimatum
I watched this movie last night on TV channel. This movie is good and neat action movie, but only one thing i don't like about this movie that irritating Cinematography. When i watched this movie in theater, i was highly irritated. From beginning to end, camera was keep on shaking and shaking. I wonder whether cameramen were in drugs or was that deliberate attempt made by directors or producers?. Let it be action scenes, conversation scenes, camera was shaking and shaking. I got terrible headache. Do anyone know that this movie received any Razzie awards for Worst Cinematography?Racism, Prejudices and discrimination exists everywhere.
