  1. I think that Terminator: Salvation continues on from Elfman's very productive 2008. Though, so far, I've found that CD falls away a bit after the first 4-5 tracks.

Glad you liked it Alan! Have you watched the movie? I haven't yet.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

On album, it reaches a sort of "peak moment" with 'Reveal/The Escape' which perhaps would have been better suited nearer the end of the album to finish it off, even though it's only about half way through the film.

In fact, I think I'll try to make my own playlist to give a better arrangement of tracks...

I like how the mid-section is rough, violent and very aggressive. The man has a skill in dissonant writing, very impressive one i might add.

Also melodic breaks such as "farewell" are very well done.

I didn't like the fact that Elfman got the assignment at first, but all this talk has gotten me excited! I also heard the first track a couple of times, which I really like (I dig the Wanted-isms!). Next friday I'll see the film (probably in IMAX), then I'll decide if I'll buy the score. If this is indeed an agressive Wanted kinda score, I probably will!

It's darker, more dissonant but also more tight, coherent and rhythmic. Love it.

    MYCHAEL DANNA - Lakeview terrace

Dark, moody and brooding electronics in modern ambient style are combined with some more organic elements as the piano, guitar and cello. Altogether they make up for a melancholic and offbeat score that could very easily be one of post 2006 Mark Isham's.

It's the Terminator score I've always wanted. It incorporates some of the best parts of Fiedel's music (or sound designs) and is a full on orchestral barrage of furry! (With, of course, Elfman's typically well-handled use of synths.)

I just wish the album had included the ""rattat-tat-tattat" rhythm that was heard in the film. Odd that it wasn't included on the CD?

Yes, very odd. It appears twice in the movie, don´t see why it doesn ´t on cd.

NP : THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN - Sir William Walton

I prefer Ron Goodwin's score but this is excellent too, particularly the heavilly influenced Battle In The Air ( Malcolm Arnold )

Not really, it's very much Malcolm Arnold, compare Battle In The Air with Arnold's concert work Tam O'Shanter ( you can find it on youtube. )

NP: Angels and Demons ~ Hans Zimmer

To be more precise Science and Religion. I've seen the film, I've read the book and nothong can represent the core of the whole story better than this cue. Very few words can describe the intensity of the emotions created.

I agree. And I'm listening to it too now, in repeat. One of these Zimmer tracks that will do it every time! Pity the rest of the album is so disappointing.
