I agree with Timmer. I like the song, but I wouldn't say it's a memorable one, or one that grabs your attention. It's odd that it isn't on there!

This would have been a great Bond song:

  2. I wonder how many people bought the score only to find out later that the song isn´t on it...

That's the problem with online shopping, then. The album clearly states at the back that it "doesn't feature any work by the artist called Adele" (like they also did when Chris Cornell's You Know My Name wasn't featured on the Casino Royale soundtrack).

It's bloody stupid that the Adele song isn't on the CD.

I am glad it isn't. The song is awful, IMO.

It's a bloody GOOD Bond song! And like with nearly all the Bond soundtracks the song belongs on the album along with the score.

    yeah
    What he said!

  3. Managed to see SKYFALL yesterday and I dug the movie quite a bit. The score.....I liked. Didn't love it. As usual, Newman built the score out of a bevy of rhythmic motifs rather than big themes, which worked quite well for the action scenes (the Shanghai sequence was brilliantly scored IMHO) but weren't able to carry the weight of the drama once the second act kicked in gear. I was fine with there not being a Big Love Theme, but generally I just found the score to be lacking any real personality. Still, to the question of whether Newman is capable of scoring a big action movie, clearly the answer is yes.
  4. I want to hear Newman do a Mission Impossible or Bourne score next.

Some would say that he has already done a Bourne score - and that it was called Skyfall.

He covered BOURNE and BATMAN territory pretty well with this one.

I hope his license is revoked for any future Bond's. I love Newman's music but just not Bond.

After the horrible JNH's Bourne Legacy, i would surely welcome this!
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  7. My review of SKYFALL for anyone who is interested:

  8. Finally.
  9. I disagree about the score not having a distinct identity. Even though it's not one of the most played cues on my iPod, I'd say "Komodo Dragon" would be the one cue that comes to mind when thinking of this score.

I liked your review Jon, very much along the lines of my own opinion.

p.s. John Barry's James Bond theme eh? Not worried about a writ from Monty then? biggrin wink

I'm surprised no one posted this yet. It'll be out just in time for the Oscars.

The BAFTAS rolleyes I remember when John Barry was nominated for Out of Africa, the accompanying music as it was read out wasn't even from the score.

I believe there are other examples from over the years.
