I like the one Arnold did before he even got into doing the Bond films.
Another fantastic version is by Leroy Holmes. This is probably my favourite version, with the added string line. -

Thomas Newman is faithful to David Arnold's version of the theme as heard in Casino Royale, since we're in that franchise (a good thing, if you ask me) but as is very evident in 'Breadcrumbs', this most definitely is a new recording of the theme incorporated within the track. Also, Newman makes elsewhere references to the Bond theme incorporated within his music (however brief at times). -

It's all new recordings of the main theme; i like them.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I'd asked David Arnold whether he thought that they have used his recording of the James Bond theme or had used his orchestrations to do a new recording. He said that he was not sure, perhaps they have used both he suggested.
Whatever version they have used it sounds good. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

All of the Bond theme rendition on the Skyfall album are new recordings. Apparently though Arnold's version of the theme, lifted from Casino Royale, has also been tracked into the film.

Hi Southall
Love reading your reviews!
Very much looking forward to Skyfall, Argo, Lo Imposible and Miel de Naranja now.
When do you publish your take on Horners "Greater Glory"?
All best and keep them coming

*sigh*
The news reporter at the Skyfall premiere twice said "I'm here with composer Tom Newton". Seriously? Get everybody elses name right but not the guy who worked just as hard but you've not heard of before... -

I don't like it when reporters ( who probably get paid a lot more than you or I ) haven't done their homework and get something as simple as someone's name correct, I could sort of forgive it if it was, say, Gustavo Santaolala but Thomas Newman trips off the tongue with ease.
Still, it's nowhere near as bad as Julia Roberts calling Bill Conti 'stick man' at the Oscars, that said a heap load about Julia 'bubble world' Roberts. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Didn't she apologise to him the following year - and then proceeded to call him Tom Conti? -

Thomas Newman really came off as very humble at the premiere yesterday. Seems like a really nice guy that was appreciative to be a part of such a legacy. Seems like a great guy.
I did not see Arnold at the premiere. Does anyone know if he was present? -

Speaking of your review, James, it's really interesting how histrionic some of the naysayers of the score have gotten in your comments section. Not everyone likes change... -

This will be the first Bond that I will see (I might check out Casino Royale this week), and it's partly so I can hear Newman's score. I can't wait! -

A couple of friends of mine didn't think it was as great as some critics claim ( neither care that much about the music ), if I get the chance I'd like to see it for myself. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -
