I watched some Bear Grills last night and saw more than I wanted to...
I still feel nauseous when I think of the giant larva.
I knew I had to stop looking but I couldn't. How stupid of me...

Rest Stop 2: Don´t Look Back
As with the first one, my only interest was to listen Bear McCreary´s score. But, surprise, this sequel is superior to the first part (in a way a direct to DVD B movie is superior to another direct to DVD B movie of course). Very tense and thrilling, bizarre (when it has to be) and with an ending pretty effective and shocking.
Oh, McCreary´s score is ok, sometimes reminding me of his music for The Sarah Connor Chronicles.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

Has it come out anywhere besides the US yet? Are overseas release dates for dvd and blue ray very different?
It is worth own the 2 disc set for the wonderful behind the scenes featurettes and a few previously unreleased music cues heard WITHOUT sound effects in the pre-viz portion of the disc. You get about 2 minutes or so of the Warehouse Escape and The Jungle Chase Part I.
The movie itself still stinks.

I haven't really looked at the 2nd disc yet. I bought just to have the extra features. Doesn't look like it offers all that much though. -

Yes but....What do you think about the 2 major action set pieces : the opening wharehouse and Jungle chase??? ( I can see you have to like the motorcicle chase...Like everyone does
)
The motorcycle is the best and most exciting and creative chase in the entire movie. Good stuff.
The Warehouse stuff is fine... far fetched... but fine. I also find it way too short. There was a great chance to do a wicked car/truck chase in the warehouse but alas Lucas didn't like Darabont's superior script which included a death defying warehouse car chase. Also, the fight on the rocketsled could have been much, much longer!
The Jungle Chase is a mess. And what makes it even more flabbergasting is that this sequence was created in pre-production with a 3D pre-viz rendering. Even that was a total mess. It's such a slow and uninteresting sequence. No suspense whatsoever... and don't get me started on the lame sword fight and the monkeys!

Do you not like all the stuff in Perú and in the city of Gold (The maya Pyramids and the Obelisc) ? I find it great stuff. A more traditiional stuff, using only CGI to make impressive landscapes.
Great effects and landscapes don't make a movie. A good story does and this one just drags. Especially after the Jungle Chase and fist fight we are left with 35 minutes of boredom. And again, it's not like the Jungle Chase and Fist Fight was that interesting to begin with.

Do you not like the sequence of the Snake Pit or the Indy-Marion discussion in the track?
The snake pit is the worst offender. What a terrible, terrible sequence. And I hate to slam my favorite composer but what a god awful piece of music for that sequence as well. I envision Homer Simpson dancing around Candyland when I hear that music. BRUTAL! "Call it a rope?" What the hell kind of line is that? UGH!
The exchanges between Marion and Indy were fine... I guess. But Marion really had no business being in this movie. Sure, the nostalgic value of her in the movie is great and it's wonderful to see Indy and Marion back on the screen together but Marion went from this strong, tough character to a smiling, daydreaming buffoon. Again, she had more to do in Darabont's original script and was a much stronger character staying in the same vein as her character was in Raiders. I mean, what did Indy do exactly in Crystal Skull that made Marion all of a sudden forgive him for leaving and hurting her not once but TWICE! Indy is a bit of an asshole don't you think?
Crystal Skull is a total mess.

It offers quite a bit actually. The main documentary runs 90 minutes in length. And there's a pile of other great featurettes on the disc as well.

I didn't want CGI and such. The CGI took away the orginal feeling of the films which already set it behind. I enjoyed the warehouse scene but didn't like the jungle scene at all. Indy didn't do anything but Drive and Mutt just sword fought and did some tarzan.
I did enjoy the Peru and City of God stuff though.
I hated everything Lucas did. That bastard ruined the film.
Lucas better keep his hands away from Spielberg. In fact, Lucas needs to quit filmmaking in my opinion. -

Is W getting a lot of hype where you guys are?
Is it just me or do a lot of you guys not care for Oliver Stone. By him I only really cared for Platoon, Born on the 4th of July, and JFK. I can't stand most of his films. -

Redbelt
A slightly odd film. I wondered where it was going throughout its first half and suddenly there was a big twist, followed by others, and I thought it was going to turn into Heist or Spartan, but then the final third is rather contrived and particularly the end pretty schmaltzy, which was a surprise. My first viewing of previous David Mamet films has been so pleasurable (I was on the verge of punching the air every time I heard a wonderful slice of dialogue in Heist but that only really happened once here, when a martial arts promoter says "Boxing's as dead as Woodrow Wilson") but I think this one might require a couple more viewings to really get into. Stephen Endelman's score is very good and I will now go and see if there has been an album (I assume not). -

Ricordati Di Me (Remember me, my love)
Yet another good one from talented Italian director Gabriele Muccino (L'Ultimo Bacio, Pursuit of Happyness). All four main characters are trying to discover their true selves-- the father gets his boring life suddenly rekindled with a former lover; the mother fraught with self doubt gives her love for theatre one last shot; the daughter's trying to get into a TV show; and the son's desperately trying to impress a girl. Set off all these together and watch the sparks fly!
L'Ultimo Bacio (The Last Kiss) is still his best effort (fast and witty) but this one is a commendable work. -

My spoiler free review of Eagle Eye:
100% popcorn action thriller. A completely ludicrous plot that can be looked over entirely because of how well it's all put together. As with most movies like this, the set up is better than the pay off, but it's one hell of a ride.
I won't give out details of the plot, but let's just say it gets a little science-fictiony towards the end. The pace never really lets up though. It starts off slowly (which is kind of nice if you roughly knows what's coming) and then it's just one big 2 hour chase movie. I love it! It was exactly what I wanted it to be. And that's a good thing, because I've been waiting for this since June. Aside from a cheesy and predictable ending (hey, Spielberg is producing) it's great fun, and you don't even need to turn your brain off to enjoy it.
Tyler's score...err...mix it louder please. Actually, the mixing of it is fine - I think I'm just used to hearing it 10 times louder on CD.
4/5 - go see it! -

If not, I can't understand what mind did this film......All is so stupid, unverosimil and over the top that you never can entry into the movie.
Now I've seen it to, explain yourself more. Why did you think it was so stupid? I mean...it was stupid, but it was as exciting as hell! If anything, all potential plot holes can be filled by the source of all the mayhem.

It's just that Jordi has - unfortunately a very odd (like it always was basically) but - sadly and very unlike his initial views in general - very grim view on everything fun lately. Don't know why, possibly a broken lady or something?
