But considering Zoe Saldana, the hottest actress in the film had a less attractive Avatar than Weaver (who from just looking on her IMDB page is 60..)

    60?!

    Saw it yesterday

    The Best:
    pace of the film
    The story
a lot of very entertaining action scenes
3D was very well integrated, it's interesting that you stop noticing it very quickly
    some touching moments
    cgi muscles and skin
Everything about Jake his fysical disability and his weakening
I've listened to Horner's score a lot before seeing the film and it has the chance to shine a lot of times.

    The Worst:
The world of Pandora was too polished... a little too much 'my little pony'/puberal emo-deviant-art-like design
The score is effective, but also a little bland. It's not anything I will relisten more after having seen the film.
Simplicity of the screenplay. Characters that were too cartoonish, especially Col. Quaritch (a Cameron trademark) Although it was cool when he was on fire.
    cgi fire and tales
Very typical final confrontation between hero and bad guy
I would have enjoyed it more if I was a teenager
Maybe I expected/wanted to see even more showy 3D effects
It's not the best film i'v seen this year (that would be Inglourious Basterds or Antichrist)

    Overall I give it 8/10.

I praise the good LORD that it didn't have more showy 3D effects. That would have made it a lesser movie, IMO (and more of an amusement park attraction). But I agree with your assessment of BASTERDS. I also think that's the best film of 2009.
    I am extremely serious.

I enjoy Titanic as a popcorn flick. A very well made popcorn flick. I never really bought into the love story though, I just like the whole tense action/thriller side to it. Fantastic music and great special effects always help things along too!

Same here. The love story I could give or take. It had much OTHER stuff going for it, though. The attention to details in the production design was totally mezmerizing.

I personally don't care about the story of Titanic, because i have seen millions of times of that kind of love stories in Indian Cinema itself. But what was so special in that movie? Yes, of course, the way Cameron told that love story was absolutely brilliant. The movie needs proper presentation. He accomplished that task very successfully. That's why even now Titanic is most successful movie of all time. I just adore this movie. Damn! i can't believe that people do hate this movie. shocked

I re-watched Titanic yesterday. this film was a classic, is a classic and will be a classic.

No matter how weak the screenplay is ( and even with that it's better than the avatar one), Titanic it's one of the most emotional movies ever. How almost every Cameron movies, the effects was so perfect than are almost so good today than they was 12 years ago ( I said , almost).

    Horner score it's PERFECT.
  3. My current fave Camerons from hottest to slightly less hot. punk

    Aliens (well duh !!!)
Terminator 2 (best action ever filmed)
    Titanic (no, seriously)
    Avatar
    The Abyss
    The Terminator
    True Lies

The first five all get top rating from me. They all have that special element that makes me want to watch em again and again. Only the best movies do that to me.

yeah, but the weather was reponsible for such an (AVERAGE shocked ) result

you'll see, this movie will kick ass in the next couple of weeks
and besides, overall this movie has already garnered 240 million, and considering it cost 300, Cameron will once again earn his bucks on this one smile

He, he...yeah, I saw it not too long ago. It's fun an unpretentious, but you'll have to leave your brain by the door. It's incredibly campy. Kevin McCarthy has a too-brief role.

As for XENOGENESIS, that's basically just a short 10-minute student film that displays Cameron's FX wizardry at that early stage. It's interesting to watch because of the elements he would later define, but it's more an experiment than a film, really. Uses music by Herrmann and Goldsmith. But he's not exactly a prolific director, so it's fairly easy to keep up.

There are still some things I haven't seen from him - the DARK ANGEL series, the documentaries (except for previously-mentioned GHOSTS) and a whole bunch of the films he did in other capacities (producer, writer, production designer etc.).
    I am extremely serious.

I think it was the loud sound effects which kept pounding over and over that contributed to my headache.
