  1. Digital releases give the convenience of buying individual tracks if that's what you want. But it's really annoying if those tracks are "album only" tracks. I was looking forward to having Vince Pope's 3 score tracks from the song'n'score release of Misfits. Now I discover that it is Pope's tracks that are the "album only" tracks (rather than the more usual song tracks on a soundtrack release). Grrr!

And while on the subject of digital albums, I am disappointed that they labels are sticking with the 70-80 minute releases for a digital release. I would have thought that, once freed from the capacity of physical media, they would add a bit more (where appropriate).

I'm sure our railway network was great when the Victorians invented it. Not particularly fit for the 21st century, though.

It annoys me that STARGATE: UNIVERSE was cancelled.

Just saw the very last episode now, which ends on a cliffhanger of sorts. They're not even going to make a film to wrap things up, like they did with FIREFLY.

Truly, truly sad. This was a show that deserved to stay on the air. Then again, I've almost become used to having my favourite shows cancelled. It seems my taste almost always goes against what is commercially viable.

    sad

Oh poo. I knew it had been cancelled, but was hoping it wouldn't end on a cliffhanger. Only a handful of episodes left for me to see. I quite enjoyed it - nothing amazing, but enjoyable. It's the first of the Stargate series I've watched.

Anyway... I am thoroughly enjoying V (three episodes of season two left) and have grown to like The Event a lot. So there are two excellent science fiction shows on which I am still going to be able to watch.
  3. I'm currently watching the Stargate Universe series run on Sky1. Not sure how many I have yet to see...

This process for becoming a Chartered Accountant is bloody expensive and intensive. But the things that are worth it in life and worth working for? Right? At least I'll (in theory) get a reasonably well paying job. And I plan on punching one of my ex-employers in the nose once I get my designation.

The number of times I see an interesting collection of themes and then find that it's the same collection of Silva tracks repackaged. Grrr!

The current state of filmscoring a la Remote Control/Zimmer style. Yuck.

It annoys me that Eidelman, Shearmur, Talgorn etc. are not getting some cool epic assignments.

Same here. Listening to fewer and fewer scores these days. I don't mind the style, it's just that everybody copies that or incorporates that into modern film music these days, especially hollywood and game scores. They all sound the same, too much of it anyway.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

That's a very good decision my friend. But i also like to try and dig out for the different.

So far what's standing out this year (and from memory, i am sure i am forgetting stuff out) is:

    Joe Hisaishi's NI NO KUNI
    Mark McKenzie's EL GRAN MILAGRO
    Christopher Young's PRIEST
    Chris P Bacon's SOURCE CODE
and L.A. Noire by ANDREW HALE & WOODY JACKSON
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

or do I just remember that from some old episode of David Carradine's Kung-Fu? wink

As if all those other chronic thingies weren't enough, today I found out (after a second blood sample) that I have liver damage! Untill I've been to the appropriate specialists and found an answer (which can be weeks and months), I have COMPLETE alcohol ban! For those who know me, you know how fucked up that is. crazy

Jesus, Thor. Life seems to be very unkind to you. sad

Any ideas -apart from the obvious- on what may be the cause of this damage?
How did this first reveal itself?

I actually had no idea I had any liver damage, as I haven't really noticed it...not while eating and not even while drinking booze. My main focus over the last six months has been the painful lung thing (and difficulty to breathe and function in normal activity), so that's why I took these blood samples in the first place. So we really just stumbled upon this liver thing accidentally. I have no idea if there is any connection between the two (or any of the other four chronic things I have), but the doctor doubted it. I have no idea what caused it. I haven't been THAT heavy on the drinking over the last two years or so.

MYSTERY! It's like the body has decided to turn itself off, organ by organ, since October-2008. dizzy

  6. Sorry to hear about this further blow. It is good that you had the blood test and picked up the liver problem before it presented as a full-blown liver problem with obvious outward signs.

The liver is a good regenerative organ. Hopefully, caught early recovery of your liver will be good.

    Hang in there mate.

True. The beginning of my thirties has been strange, to put it mildly.

You'll have to manage without me in the "Cheers!" threads and equivalents here for a while. Unless it's "kosher" to cheer in non-alcoholic beverages?! wink
