Sant' Antonio di Padova - Marco Frisina
I have always liked Frisina's music but I was not familiar with this score. When listening to it the first time tooday, I was like omg - that's how good it is. A fantastic, melodic score with powerful orchestral passages and the usual top-quality Frisina choral writing.

It's a nice score but I'd rank it as one of the average efforts of Frisina. He has done many better.

Is Exodus a newly recorded score? And available through which shop?

With all this good talk about it, I may need to check it out.

HERE YOU GO! Order it now!

    -Erik-

HOLY SHIT ! I'm ordering this... Never heard of Exodus before but this sounds spectacular! Awesome!!! punk

But what exactly is the reason for including QB VII, Schindler's List and some other unrelated tracks at the end of the second disc? Looks out of place to me.

NP : Enter The Dragon - Lalo Schifrin

"Do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory." smile
"Simplicity is the key to brilliance"
  2. Alan Silvestri - Forrest Gump

My favorite Silvestri score. Works wonders in the film and isn't over the top with the action music (which I hate with Silvestri). The film is a must-see.

Here is what James Fitzpatrick had to say about the release...

"Originally I planned EXODUS as a single CD. Then I was offered the chance to record IT'S A MAD...WORLD and SHIP OF FOOLS by Gold..plus his EXODUS Rhapsody for Cello..

So, then it was gong to be a short-ish running double CD.

Then after he EXODUS sessions I found had some 83 minutes of score...just a few too many minutes to fit comfortably on one CD. (The manufacturers still get labels to sign a clearance form that if the time of a CD goes over 76:50 then if there are any faulty CDs it is not the fault of the manufacturer but of the record label..so they will not credit any faulties!!! Just imagine if the manufacturer pressed 3000 faulty CDs....)

So, then I decided to "go the whole hog" a record a whole load of extras to make both CDs well over an hour each. CD one being about 66 minutes, CD 2 being about 72 minutes.

This meant making an artistic cut from one CD to the next followng the main action cue "D-Day Bombs".

It might have be nice to have EXODUS as just one CD minus about 4 or 5 minutes of score...it certainly would have saved me thousands of pounds it cost recording the extras of SCHINDLER'S LIST, CAST A GIANT SHADOW, JUDITH etc...

and yes, QB VII is the suite I put together for Silva...but as I actually paid for the recording myself they let me licence these tracks... but I did take the opportunity to remaster them..."

n.p. ERNEST GOLD - exodus, the 2009 edition

What a brilliant musical work, from start to finish really nothing comes close to this masterpiece, from the outcome of today's film music.

When I first heard of this 2-CD release I was a very negative about what they had done. But after hearing the clips (and seeing the YouTube video of the Exodus main titles) my opinion completely changed.

I'm definitely looking forward to hearing as much Exodus music as I can - and the additional tracks are an added bonus.

NP: Quantum Of Solace (video game score) - Christopher Lennertz

Man, give this dude some bigger projects! What a fantastic, fun score - gives David Arnold's film score a run for its money! I rank it up there with Desplat's Largo Winch. Terrific stuff! punk

Indeed! Lennertz's Quantum of Solice score is miles ahead of Desplat's Largo Winch. Miles!

BTW, my comment was sort of tongue in cheek. However, I consider Lennertz to be a far more gifted composer than Desplat... or, I like what Lennertz does more so than what Desplat does.

Game rips are never a good representation of the score. Grab the promo if you can. It's very, very well done.
